Holy Cow!! What a Smoke
This cigar was sent to me as part of a Prize package from Sir-Smokes-a-lot (Thanks Michael )
I went outside on the porch the other night after dinner (Pasta) and I sat down with this cigar and a cup of Cut Throat Killer Beans.
The first thing I noticed was the handsome box pressed shape and the sweet smelling, oily maduro wrapper. This was a Big One, I would say a Churchill sized smoke, maybe a Double Corona? I dunno. But it was big, Beautiful and Black, my three favorite B's I give the Appearance Top Marks
I used a home-made .357 Shell punch to put a neat hole in the well made solid cap. I tested the draw, which was firm, but easy. Perfect
I toasted the foot and took a little whiff of the smoke, and right then I knew this was going to be a Yummy. I lit the smoke with a few slow turns and took my first good draw. I let the smoke slowly curl out from the mouth and nose and tasted the full spectrum of flavors. This thing has an awesome flavor profile. Strong tastes of Nut, coffee, chocolate (dark chocolate) and a light undertone of leather. In my limited experience I have found these flavors to be pretty normal for a good maduro cigar, but this thing had these flavors so up in my face that I was left to do nothing but relax and enjoy. Concentration to pick out the flavors is NOT required.
The flavor of this smoke scores really high
The burn on this smoke got slightly off at the start, I chose not to fix it and it stayed off all the way down. I do not take anything away from this cigar though, as I was smoking it in 20mph winds, nothing burns straight under those conditions, and this one held true all the way, just slightly more on the downwind side. The draw and the construction stayed perfect all the way, as did the great flavors (strong, full bodied, never harsh or bitter), the cap stayed put, and I got NO Tobacco pieces on my tongue . I give the construction a big
I nubbed this baby down to the point I had to stick my poker in it to keep from burnin’ my fingers.
I highly recommend this cigar if you like a good Fuerte
Did I say that I give this smoke a big  , well I do
The La Luna Maduro Fuerte is designed specifically for experienced cigar aficionados, seeking a full-bodied cigar. Long filler from Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua, a Honduran binder and an attractive black Costa Rican maduro wrapper make this one of the richest smokes available. Fuerte in Spanish means "strong" and the Maduro Fuerte lives up to this translation.
La Luna cigars are made in Danli, Honduras, and fill the emerging demand for powerful, full-flavored cigars. Both the Maduro Fuerte and African Fuerte are available in Corona, Torpedo, and short and long Robusto and Perfecto shapes. They both combine Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Costa Rican fillers with Honduran binder (Maduro Fuerte) and Mexican binder (African Fuerte). The Maduro Fuerte has a Costa Rican wrapper; the African Fuerte uses genuine African Cameroon wrapper.
All La Luna cigars retail for less than $5.00, at keystone discount.
