When I say very old cigar review...I mean "Very Old Cigar Review". This particular cigar of focus was gifted to me by a very generous and wealthy cigar collector who shall remain nameless! This was purchased from an auction in a large bundle.
The cigar was an N/C La Gloria Cubana double corona (48 x 7) with a natural wrapper...that is reported to be at least 20 years old (the cigar, not the wrapper).
The wrapper was kinda beat up...but I fixed that with some wrapper repair gum!
Other than that...after the cut, it drew well and had a great, sweet taste to the unlit monster.
Lit it and it was amazing...very smooth and noticably mild but with some pepper on the tongue. It was like smoking a perfectly aged cuban. I swear the wrapper was Cuban...it just had that great taste to it. It also had that green spotted effect to the wrapper. Throughout the cigar it went from tame to spicy / sweet and never got harsh or hot.
The burn the entire experience was razor sharp and never started to cone.
The last 1/3 of the cigar just got better...more flavorful with a bit more spice...the changes were wonderful. It was a somewhat sweet cigar, as I was warned that it was. Kinda' like smoking a sugar infused cigar with just the right amount pepper and spice to make it perfect. This was truelly a great gift and shows that back-in-the-day, LGC really had his shit together!!!
If I could get my hands on more of these...I would love them (hint hint!! :whistling: ).
