La Gloria Cubana Series R No. 4 Maduro currently going for about $2/ea on CBid

4.8" x 52 ring

Gift from a Brother and a worthy smoke, why GOD made FOGS

Construction was generally smooth with one promenant spiral vien. The wrapper was a nice chocolate brown, somthing that used to intimidate me before I came to CP. Firm and even to the gentle squeeze, a nice tight pack. I chose to punch rather than clip. Prelight draw was somewhat tight as was the post light which made for so-so smoke volume. My fine $10 torch started to sputter as I started to warm up, so I quickly started to light. I ran out of gas before fully lighted, but this sweetie balanced the burn without getting uneven. The flavor was fantastic - I still not coming to grips with the usual adjectives of woody, leathery, or creamy. The best I can do is the smell of a 200 box B&M walk-in.

I'm used to a smoke that bites for the first inch, but not here. This baby was smooth all the way through to about the last half inch where I ran out of time. I do note with pleasure that the flavors stayed with me fully half an hour after the last draw.

I'll be looking for a cigar pierce to deal with those occasional tight draws. This one is going in my humi as a regular. Thanks Doc!

Nice review! I actually just finished the same cigar and it never fails to be consistent for me. The flavors are great!

I completely agree! Very consistant smoke. I usually smoke the #6 and they never let me down. Lots of spice and flavor. Glad you enjoyed it! You got me wanting one now. :D

I've had a chance to smoke the LGC Seri-R #7 natural...that was a fine smoke, but since I'm more of a maduro person, I've wanted to give the maduro side of Seri-R's a shot. Most definitely. Nice review, thanks very much.

I need opinions and inputs, please. If I was to go out and buy a box of LGC Series R, should I get the Natural or the Maduro or both ? How do you describe the difference between the LGC Series R in Natural versus Maduro wrapper ? I had it in my mind to get a box of these and age them for a few years, I just did not know which wrapper to get.

Thanks in advance for your advices.

Maybe my pallette isn't ready for this one or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it, but I did not enjoy this cigar nearly as much as everyone else seems to.

The construction looked great, but it did have a pretty tight draw (4 months at 60-65%). The burn was incredible even being outside on a breezy day.

I picked up a good tobacco flavor, but I also picked up a kind of chemical taste towards the last half or so. I can't pick up all the subtleties a more experienced smoker can, but I can usually pull something out of a smoke besides the tobacco flavor.

Oh well, that's why they make so many different cigars...

I'll give it another try in the future, but I was disappointed after all of the glowing reviews.

Yup, I think the maduro version of this line is a nice smoke.
