La Gloria Cubana Corona Gordo Maduro
Toro, 6 x 52
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
The cap cuts cleanly with my el cheapo guiottine and the foot lighting isn't perfect due to el cheapo b&m matches. The first few pulls taste of cooking cocoa. Bitter chocolate. This will sound crazy to many of you, but I haven't smoked a maduro in weeks. That smooth maduro flavor is subtely present, and very enjoyable. My only disappointments into the first third of this cigar is that the draw, which doesn't feel tight, is yielding less than abundant amounts of smoke, and the whitish gray ash is flakey at best.
I apologize for the hand shots. I enjoy looking at a dude's hands about as much as I enjoy watching someone eat with their mouth open. Too lazy to go get my ash tray. Moving along. A reviewer on Cigarworld noted a tight draw and flavors of wood and black cherry. I've yet to experience the sensation of wood flavors, but I can see where he would get the black cherry from. Although I don't think I would have mentioned it if I hadn't read it. To me, this cigar just has a good maduro taste, perhaps this wrapper just brings out that flavor to individual palettes.
Some final notes. This cigar maintained the same flavors throughout. No surprises, no complexities. Just a straight-up good maduro smoke. I wouldn't get a box, but will add it to my list of C-bid 5ers.
And of course,
Nubbed.
