Tried my first Dbl. Ligero after work today at the local tobacco shop/lounge. I have had regular LFD's before but never the much talked about double ligero.

I was told and have read that these are pretty strong/fullbodied cigars. I thought it had a full body flavor but it did not make me have to sit down and this was a really big one . . . something like 6.5 x 54.

Anyway it was fantastic like all the other LFD's I have smoked before.

A word on price . . . what would you all expect to pay for this considering the size? My shop sold it for $8.25 and he said that he actually had mis-priced them and I got a deal. So . . . ?

Was the tabacco tax included in the shelf price? I usually the the DL from $5-$7.5 her in FL before taxes.

Glad to hear you liked it... LFD DL is one of my favorites. Especially the Chisel. Definitely a full bodied smoke, but as for the knock out... that depends heavily on person, food and beverage (before and during) adn a few other factors. Only once did I get the "wow-strong, need to sit" buzz from the chisel and that was an empty stomach smoke with a guiness and some water.

Either way a great smoke and a great stick.

Actually, I find the smaller ring gauge LFDs, both the Ligero Oscuro Naturals and the Double Ligeros, stronger than the larger ring gauges. It seems to me that the larger ring gauges (54 and up) seem to mellow the cigar a bit. They are all full bodied, but the smaller ring gauges seem to be stronger.

I think you paid about $2 too much for that cigar. Even my guy here in Charlottesville, who is always a little high, only charges around $6 to $6.50 for the double ligeros.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review.

I agree they're a great smoke. I agree with the Dawg, you overpaid a bit but I don't know how much of that was tax. With tax and all I get them for $5-$6. I LOVE TX. :D

I really enjoy the LFD line, and the Double Ligero is a very nice smoke IMHO. Like the others who have posted, I can get them for a bit less than what you paid. CI sells a box of 20 (when they are in stock) of the size you mention for $115; singles would be a bit more, of course.

Actually you did get a good deal on the price since you are in California because of the high cigar tax in that state. Most other areas of the country you would have overpaid at that price.

Well I live her in California where the Tobacco Nazis have placed a permanent headquarters. Seems you can't fart here without someone complaining you are poluting the air, affecting greenhouse gasses or bothering someone's right to have smoke-free air whereever they may be . . . even in front of your own house.

As such the tobacco taxes here are, from what I have seen/heard, a bit high. Plus, while this place and the owner are really great, he is the only game in town and for at least 30 miles so due to the lack of competition the price I am sure is a bit higher even considering the taxes involved.
