In light of the discussion about RP Vintage and La Flor de Baloney, I have broken down and bought a bundle. I would like to share the wealth, however, particularly with RP Vintage smokes!! In perpetual search for the perfect cigar and the worst bundle, I would like to mail out some Robusto La Flor de Baloney to those who are brave (or not) enough to taste test one and write a short review.

I think the results would prove entertaining. I realize that this is asking a great sacrifice of your taste buds to descend into the depth of La Flor, but as Fats Waller use to say, "One never knows, do one???"

If you are interested in this supreme sacrifice and selfless act of service for the greater good, just email me your name and where I should send them to. The only condition is that you actually smoke them and resist using them for give aways to enemies or as simulated dog droppings on your neighbor's lawn.

The gaunlet has been thrown!!! :rolleyes:

I'm in. I just met a guy in Dana Point who claims to use the same factory as Rocky amongst other things. He said the 'vintage' line definitely isn't anywhere near that old and the filler in the edge is only 6-18 months

That's a very nice offer, SaxJazz. I know you get some takers. :thumbs:

Wilkey

I'm in! I like the 92 vintage torps a lot. I would like to see if Lew really made a good cigar or just another one of his propriatary peices of crap that will be next yeras weekly special.

Maybe a dumb question but- whats so bad about these turdish cigars?

As for "the edge" I took a deeper look into the Corojo and Maduro and figured out why they are so cheap- not one, not two, but roughly three large (veins?) stems are packed inside the filler. It's kinda like getting a pair of RP chop sticks with each cigar.

If you were stuck in a well with 1000 RP edges, one could make a rope ladder.

I don't know how popular I will be after they smoke them, but maybe we will get some good surprizes, if not entertaining reviews.

:rolleyes:

I am up for the challenge.

Lord knows I like to torture myself. It is a past time for me. ;)

Very nice offer!

Too much on my plate right now to take you up on it, but it's a very cool gesture...

It's a damn shame, too. They used to be good cigars when they first came out. I guess he has someone else making them now - and how! I tried to smoke one a couple months back and didn't get an inch in before I ditched it.

Sax Jazz - what's a La Flor de Baloney?

Count me in SJM! I would love to review one for you. :thumbs:

I'll return the favor too. Let me know your preference in cigars. I'm sure I can find something to shoot your way.

PM on the way. :D

I will play, I would love to try one of Lews terds, maybe I can get the review posted on his website :thumbs:

PM sent

I'm game. This should be a good way to get my name out there and get to know some of you guys.

Dan;

This is Lew ranting again. He's been doing that more lately. I think he may have a similar problem as our CINC. A little reality detachment. :laugh:

Sax Jazz;

I'll play!

I'm game, if there is still room... :thumbs:
My review skills are, well... Less than stellar, but I'll try!

I'm in if there is room left, address in profile. I even have a few 90 or 92's (can't remember which) sitting in the humi, so i'll try a comparative.

This guy (Craig) is cool, this is the closest cigar shop top me...but not my favorite. He does make his cigars at the Rocky Patel factory. They are OK, the Corojo line is the tastiest, but always have draw issues.

As far as Flor de Bologney...I would love to play. My addy's in my profile...let me know if I'm in!

Dear Fellow Cigar Lovers,

I hope to get the bundle of La Flor de Boloney tomorrow. J&R tells me that is when they expect delivery. I will let you all know when they arrive and will send them out within 48 hours from them. I will let you know when I mail them so you can be watching for them. If you can, let me know when you get them. You may want to rest them a few days in you humi (I realize that may not help :( , but anything is possible with a cigar with a classy name like that).

Once you get them and post you have received them, let the games begin!!! Wouldn't it be something if this turns out to be a hell of a cigar?? Can you imagine trying to convince someone that the cigar you are passing them, La Flor de Baloney, is not a comment on his or her character??

As it stands now, I will let you all know when I have sent them out. Good smoking until then, we may need it!!!

:D
