I smoked a La Aurora Cien Anos Belicoso today. It's been sitting in my humidor now for over 6 months...it's time was up (have one more that will age another 4-6 months). Jealous? Should be!
It was a very good cigar...I've had this cigar before but only in the Rubosto size. That is also a very good cigar (have 4 more of these). Tons of flavor and lots of spice. I'd say it's medium bodied with so much flavor...did I say flavor already? The first few puffs were very spicy and loaded with leather and French roast espresso. From about the 1/3 point on, it smoothed out became very creamy with cocoa and dark coffee and the spice mellowed to pepper. Lasted like this until the end where I had to put it down to avoid burning my prescious fingers.
The construction looked spot on perfect...with one exception, a loose draw...looser than what I like. But it had a perfect point on the end and the wrapper was lovely. One slight vein than kinda intrupted an even burn...so just one touch-up. Overall...well worth the 2nd place finish in the "Best Cigars" of CA. I would age them a year or more for a much smoother and more perfect cigar. That's all...
Oh yah...while I was at this shop I picked a La Aurora 1849 robusto. Had to give one a try to see if it is as good as I hope. I'll let you all know after it rests for a few months...
