I think it's time for a simple, straight forward review... mostly because I didn't feel like spending the time trying to pick out the different nuances of flavour in the smoke. I decided to relax this evening after dinner with a cigar that wouldn't take too long to smoke, and I had this La Aurora staring up at me. Alright, the victim to be sacrificed to the fire gods has been selected.
Construction was nice, slight tooth on the wrapper with an oily sheen. Veins were neither large nor prominent and the pre-light draw was just barely on the loose side. I torched the foot then sat back and relaxed. This was a very nice smoke. I'd say it was somewhere between mild and medium bodied with just enough spice to let you know it was there. The ash held strong for a good 2" before landing on the table next to the ashtray.
Throughout the hour I spent with this one, I'd say the only flavours I could distinguish were good aged tobacco, spice, and a mild earthiness. No leather, roasted brazil nut, and no granola smoothie. If I had more room in the humidor right now, I'd buy more of these since it was a pleasant everyday go-to kind of cigar.
