So I finally lit up a La Aurora 1495 that I have had sittin in my humi for a couple of months...I was hoping that this robusto would have been a fulfilling smoke to celebrate my move into a townhouse...it wasn't.
The construction was great...perfect wrap, no big veins, perfect cap. I couldn't feel any plugs or soft spots...very nice.
The foot smelled like straight tobacco with a little pepper thrown in for good measure.
Cut the end with my Zikar (No more punches for me!!) and the pre-light draw was perfect and the taste was still tobacco and spicy pepper.
Lit very easily with a cedar spill...and the first taste was "WOW"...straight tobacco, pepper and lots of cedar (I wonder why?)
From that point it went down hill...the draw and burn stayed consistent and good, but the flavor never progressed passed the the tobacco and pepper with a little cardboard thrown in at this point for good measure. Not too impressive. Without much evolution in flavor and/or strength I quickly grew tired of this cigar. Not for me. So I managed to puff on the cigar until about the 2/3 point and let it die out in my ashtray. Won't buy them again. Probably would smoke it if it was handed to me...but wouldn't spend $$ on it.
Hope that helps with any questions about the La Aurora 1495...this was all just my opinion, though. Take it with a grain of salt! :whistling:
