What are your thoughts on this product? I like it and put an email out to them about how many humidity sensors can you hook up to the main Knut unit. I've read through the limited info and could not find the answer and all I see is one hooked up to the main unit in the picture. Obviously if it's only one per unit, it wouldn't be cost effective for me.

I would love to put one on each shelf of my walk-in closet humi and another set up for my cabinet.

Here is the link and this has been funded already.

This is their site:

That looks pretty cool.

In reading through their site it looks like you can hook up 3 sensors to the main unit with the "expansion module".  I would imagine that you would be able to hook 3 humidity sensors up to the unit, but that would be a question for them.

If it works, it would be a great unit for cabinets or walk-ins.

They have conflicting information about the number of humidity sensors you can hook up.  The Kickstarter page indicates that you can connect 8 serial humidity sensors.  Their website suggest only one humidity sensor.  I think the difference is the sensor interface.  You would have to contact them to find out if the serial humidity sensors are available.

I would want to know what percent level it will hold with respect to humidity. The information is no better than the sensor.

When I researched that a year or so ago, it appears that to get better than +/- 2% you have spend about $2,500 or so.  Then, you also get into issues of access to equipment to calibrate the unit.

As near as I can tell, anything below that standard ($2,500) which is basically a lower grade lab quality instrument - no matter how much praise and puffing they do about the quality of their unit it is still going to be +/- 2% at best.

I have an Oregon Scientific outdoor weather station that I coupled with remote sensors I hooked up to it just to read humidity off of the monitor in my humidors. The link below is the one I now want as it has apps. It has capability to support up to eight more temperature and humidity sensors.

The remotes I've had for several years and they have held a good calibration. Surprised me and relieved me as they do not calibrate.

Well so far I haven't heard back from them via email. I really want to go with something that has Apps and WIFI capabilitiess so that I can monitor it on my phone. I currently have one of these set up on all my shelves of both humis which I picked up on
at Lowes for about I believe 10-12 bucks. Pretty damn accurate as I've tried many but no way of calibrating them.

John I really like that set up and Oregon scientific is a pretty solid company.

They are a solid company Kris. Really happy with the way they handled an issue I had with one of the remote sensors after it was a year old (dropping it on ceramic tile might have had something to do with it).

I have had my coolidors pop open from time to time causing significant humidity drops. I am sometimes complacent about checking the monitor on my nightstand. I like the fact that the current model has app settings that can alert you in such an event with text/emails.
Other than that I am not too anal about normal humidity fluctuations.

I hear you brother but I have to be as I have a man attic as oppose to a man cave. My finished attic is where I have my home office / lounge area and also have the humidors up there.  As you know the attic is the coldest part of the house in the winter and the hottest in the summer so i have to be very diligent.

I have to be anal about heating and cooling it off year round.

If I lend you my wife, you'd be on the main floor.

I started to post something in response to that earlier, but thought I might have been misinterpreted

You'd have a hard time offending me brother! Unless truly trying to be outright mean. ;)

Well I finally got an email back from Knut and it looks like this is not going to work for me. Great concept though.

Hi Kristopher,
Thank you for your interest in Knut.
Unfortunately only one Humidity sensor can be used per Knut.

Let us know if you have any other questions,
Jay

John, thanks for the info and links. I pulled the trigger on the one you linked along with 8 sensors. It should be here in two days and will let you know how it goes once everything is set up and working. Just what I need, another app on my phone to keep me busy - LOL.

Eight! Holy crap!

Hope it goes well for you Kris! I should have mentioned that I do remember the set up instructions and technical support on my last one being a bit lacking. Hopefully, they have improved in this department should you need guidance.

I got eight to split up between my walk-in closet and cabinet humidors. The cabinet is pretty easy to maintain but the walk in - I'm still trying to figure it out and it'll be my first summer with it. No issues during the winter though.

Kris, I am glad you pulled the trigger first (guinea pig) because I was thinking I would need 8 sensors as well, and was wondering how convenient the interface was...

I am looking forward to your review brother.
