I had to take an unexpected trip to Kansas City over the Super Bowl weekend. It was an unfortunate game for the Chiefs, but at least I got to enjoy a whole lot of great BBQ.
Anyway, I did have the good fortune of visiting The Pendergast Club, which is on the third floor of an old building owned by the former political boss, Tom Pendergast. Half of the floor was his mistress' apartment, while the other half was his office for behind-the-scenes political dealings. The whiskey selection was vast, the cigars were excellent, the locals were quite welcoming, and I had a great time visiting.
Below is a pic of the main club area, as well Pendergast's table (desk) that witnessed a lot of history, including Truman being told he should run for U.S. senator. The room with the table is now used as an event space within the cigar lounge.
