As the Hansotia company continues to branch out from the Gurkha line, there are bound to be a few clunkers. Unfortunately, this appears to be one of them. In fairness, I have to admit that I am not a fan of natural wrappers or mild smokes. So consider that as you read this.
I got this stick in a sampler from CI. Appearance and construction were flawless. Beautiful, even color wrapper with hardly any veining, soft spots, or mottling. Solid, light grey ash that was solid and hung on well. Burn was uneven, but that was likely due to an uneven clip. The clip was very smooth, I just wasn't paying attention to the alignment. (Kudos to my new Palio cutter; if possible, blades sharper than my Xikar.) The wrapped began to crack at about the 2/3 point, which fit nicely with my decision to put it aside.
Nice firm draw, gobs of smoke.....and that's about it. I'd say more about the bouquet and aroma, but there wasn't much of either. The band is printed "Special Reserve Premium Tobacco" and "Smooth Blend".
If you're a fan of mild, inoffensive, unchallenging cigars, you might like this line. I'd rate this at no more than an 85, and I think I'm being genrous because of the overall quality of the Hansotia lines. Personally, I think they should have stopped with the Gurkhas.
