Look in the October issue of Cigar Aficionado...go to the Rocky Patel ad on pages 96 and 97. Look at the top left picture, the guy in the white shirt next to Rocky (to Rocky's left) is the guy that owns the shop I buy from in Dana Point, Cali. Kinda cool, huh? He has a couple of lines of cigars called Vigilante and (?), the Vigilante line Corojo is GREAT and may be coming to a shop near you. He will have an add in the next CA for his cigars...I wouldn't pass them up if I were you, great smokes. Thought you may like to know.

Just pulled out my CA and looked at the said pages. That is cool and I recognise the Green House. I had flash backs from that same tour that I took in Oct 2005 and will again in March 2006. Just waiting for the pictures and I still have 7 rolls to develop.

fetterjohn,

where's the cigar shop in Dana Point?

I'm so close to Dana Point...I'd like to visit his shop.
Maybe you can introduce me :)

It's on PCH. Up from the harbor. If you're going north, it's on your left side. Look for the cigar store indian and a big barrel. Let me know the next time your around, maybe I can take an hour off in the day to meet you there to smoke. Let me know. BTW, how was the HERF?

-Fetter

I'll let you know the next time I'm around Dana Point...which is quite often.

The HERF was great.
Met the guy behind the Curtain (Rod) and his girlfriend, JAEwing, godfather and his girlfriend.

Smoked 2 cigars (granted they were small)...everyone had a great time.
The Southern Californians have to catch-up with the rest of the BOTLs in other states...we're slacking with the HERFs.

Smoked some cool cigars, traded some too, met fellow BOTLs, had some laughs...made new friends!

We're definitely going to meet again...I'll let you know...in fact we'll everyone know!

Maybe a HERF in OC!
I think the next one will be in Long Beach...at Cohiba's.

I went to that shop in Dana Point and got treated like $hit. Found the cigars that I wanted and they told me that they were only for "special" customers. I told them that some of thier "special" customers told me to come in there but they told me "that's too bad". Nice way to treat a new potential customer that just got a home in that area. Don't think I will ever go back there again.

By the way, I only wanted 1 or 2 of thier "special" sticks so I could sit there and smoke while I checked out the shop. Not like I wanted to clean them out or anything.

That sucks, exactly how special were these "special sticks" that they were hoarding?

Sorry to hear that, Alan. I told you that they don't sell them to everybody, I can buy them, but sometimes the owner is not there and then they don't sell to anybody. It was probably Bill, the Cuban, who helped you, he plays by the owner's "Rules". And Steph, the gal, is really nice, but also plays by the rules. Although the owner is usually very cool. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience...I like the place...I just don't buy too much from them, kinda pricey. But if you're in the area next time, give me a ring. I'll PM you my mobile number.

I would have been irritated as well. Seems that if they want to cater to the "special" customers then they should put those sticks out of sight.

I wonder if there is some legal action that could be taken against that business . . . Hmmmmmmmmmm . . . maybe some research is in order. I am writing the class action suit as we speak. All those who have been unfairly denied "special" smokes and been illegally discriminated against PM me and we will sue the place.

LOL leave it to the attorney to stir up some shit. :whistling:

Only the customers who know about these cigars and look "UP" will ever find them. This guy has so many overstock boxes sitting on the upper shelves it's hard to see them, even to discriminate what they are, to even think about getting them.

So since "I" found them, doesn't that make me "special"?! I just thought it would be polite to "buy" a cigar from them to smoke in thier place instead of bringing in one of my own Anejos, BTLs or Casa Fuentes from my car. But no! I was only special enough to smoke one of thier dog rockets. :sign:

Which of their "Dog Rockets" did you smoke? Was it the owner's brand? If so, how was it?

I didn't smoke anything from that shop after the way that they treated me. I went down to Mr. Bones place and tried one of thier dog rockets! I wasn't going to pay $50 for an Anejo or an Opus.

Did you see the prices that they sell Opus and Anejo at Mr. Bones? $100 for a DC...$75 for an Anejo #77? Wow.
