After reading Loren's review, I had been saving this Pussy Cat for a time when I could really savor it. Today was the day. After lunch, I settled in my spot with a lemonade, a good book, and my Opus X Pussy Cat (thanks to a fine BoTL on this board, you know who you are!). I punched the cap with a Xikar 009 9mm. The draw was perfect. I toasted the foot, and that was enough to get this little fire cracker going. It gave me an overwhelming amount of pure white smoke, surprising for such a small cigar.

It was a bit bland at first, with some slight peppery notes. After a few puffs, she turned into what I knew she was capable of being. What a relief! Lots of fresh ground pepper on the back of the throat, and as I exhaled through the nose I picked up on those raspberry notes Loren mentioned in his review. It was spot on. The first third left a bitter aftertaste, but she mellowed out into a smooth, peppery smoke with notes of dried fruit and toasted tobacco going into the second third with plenty of pure white smoke. The ash held on well, dropping off about 1/3 of the way through. The wrapper split about halfway through, but she took it in stride with a razor sharp burn. I didn't have to touch up this cigar at all, even with that split! I exhaled again through the nose at the second third, and was greeted with more raspberry notes. It left a pleasant aftertaste.

Going into the final third, the ash fell and the smoke took on a fruity sweetness that I could taste on the tip of my tongue while taking a draw, before it hit the back of my throat with the fresh ground pepper. I had to re-light it near the end, because I let it sit longer than I should have. It made no matter, as she picked up right where I left her. She remained in this state of for the remainder of our time together.

I gave her ample time on the ash tray, sipping lightly at times and taking long, slow draws at others. It lasted for about an hour and 15 minutes. This Pussy Cat is a fire cracker! A fitting smoke for Independence Day. Near the end, the kids woke from their naps so I had to leave more than what I would have liked in the ash tray. But, I feel that I experienced all this cigar had to offer, which is all that matters. If you have the opportunity to pick one of these up, don't think twice!

Glad you enjoyed it. I wish they was easier to come by as its a nice smoke and especially when you only have an hour to smoke. This cigar would be perfect when pinched for time.

I wholeheartedly agree. Here's to hoping the Pussy Cat is put into larger production. The petit corona has become one of my favorite vitolas, but even they require a good bit of time to properly enjoy. The Pussy Cat is perfect for an hour of pure enjoyment.

I like the sounds of this bad boy. I'm inexperienced when it comes to Opus, but it sure sounds tasty. Hopefully these will go into regular production.
