So, I'm sitting here smoking a really good JR Alt that I received in a pass last year. Unfortuntely I don't know what it is, but it sure is tasty.

I like creamy cigars. What do you recommend in a JR Alt? I know you need to age these suckers before smoking. The one I'm smoking now is a few years old, and man is it good!

:p

Oh yeah, I forgot to add... I'm drinking some Oregon Honey Beer, in a really thick heavy frosty beer mug. :D

MMmmm, what a night in Southern California. ;)

Rod, I would go with the Cuban Alt to the SLR B and the Alt to the Monty #2. The SLR B is usually tasty when you get them, but the Monty #2 needs some aging time.

Two others is the Alt to Arturo Fuente 858 Natural and Maduro. Also the Alt to the Arturo Fuente Hemingway, when you can get them.

Rod, I don't know about the JR's, only had 1...but the creamiest cigar I've ever had was a Zino Connes. #100 (churchill sized).
At the retailer about $8.50 but about 5.70/stick for a box at atlantic

Well Rod my personal opinion on the alts is that it must have been the beer that tasted goo or the smoke was a couple years old. LOL :) I have never realy cared much for those. For a couple cents or so more I have a few other cigars I would smoke... :p

Shadow, this was actually one of the cigar's you sent me last year! I know, they take quite a bit of aging before they taste good. This one was definately aged. If I'm correct, it was a Monte.

I think I'm gonna go with the Connie's. I've heard alot of good things about them. Mine as well give 'em a try. :D

I agree with the JR ALTS 858...Had one OTT and is was pretty decent. Not at wet as the 2 bundles of Connies I just received. Hopefully they will age well...Just my 2 cents. Tell you what though, after I get the box back from this upcoming pass I will letcha know what I think of what I got back.

The ALTs never did it for me. But Connies....now there's a good stick. Sometimes, you need to lay them down awhile, but try them right off the truck and you'll be surprised. JR sends them out a bit wet (to protect them in shipping I quess), so you may want to dry-box them for a couple of days. My last bundle went into the tupperdor with no humidifier and, three months later, it still holds 70/70. My preference are the 9s in maduro (robusto) and the 733s (toro). Both of these sticks have a good bit of spice to them, are medium to full (a bundle may have different blends within, such as Belinda, Hoyo, ERDM, Excalibur, JR Ultiamtes, etc - not necessarily all of one blend per bundle). These are hard to find in stock. I routinely cruise the Connie pages waiting for these to come into stock. The 733s came in stock last week....were gone in about four hours. The guys on the boards at JRs watch these closely and the word goes out. Just like here, a bunch of good guys.

BTW, only buy Connies from JR. They are available elsewhere, but ususally twice the price. Lew is the man.
