I just took delivery of the Joya de Nicaragua made by Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca. He has recently signed a distribution deal with Drew Estate and we have taken them on. I used to smoke them years ago, but they kind of fell out. Their new Celebracion line and the Antano line is awesome (I prefer the Celebracion). They still have the classic line from years ago, but these blow away the old line. I would call the Celebracion a medium-full bodied complex cigar that has great flavor. The Antano is more full-bodied. If you haven't yet tried them, I highly recommend them. Also, Joya is the oldest factory in Nicaragua that is still in operation.

Antano Line:

Belicoso 6 x 54 box price $132.50
Churchill 6 7/8 x 48 box price $119.15
Consul 4 1/2 x 52 box price $95.85
Magnum 6 x 60 box price $149.15

Celebracion line:

Consul $90.85
Churchill $107.50
Corona $82.50
Toro $99.15

All boxes are 20-ct. Prices are for non-NY customers only. Please call or PM me with orders. Thanks.

Those Antaño are among the strongest cigars I've ever smoked. For guys who like "blow you head off" strength, these babies will satisfy your hunger.

Yes they are!

6 months of rest reveals a MUCH smoother cigar, some of the most dramatic change I have experienced in my limited aging experiments.

Interesting. I've never stocked enough of these to age. I have tried the JdN Antaño Gran Reserva and I find those very strong as well but not nearly as harsh. Has that been your experience as well?

I smoked one that had AT LEAST 6 months or more on it and it was real nice. I agree with Prof. Wilkey, though. It is a STRONG smoke. The Celebracion is more my style.

i really like the Antano Consul but i never thought of aging them
i go to them when we want to have a quick smoke in front on the building stoop

I've never encountered the Gran Reserva.

I had a fiver of Antano Gran Consul tucked away for nearly nine months. I like them fresh, but the older ones really smooth out nicely.

I recently purchased a box of JdN Antano Lanceros from another web retailer that had their inventory date of 6/18/07, being over a year in their humidor really tames these down a bunch.. they're almost gone now :(

Just bought a box of the Antaño Gran Consuls last week. I *love* these out of the box. If they got mellower I would be sad :( I'd better smoke 'em faster :p

I was agonizing over getting those vs. the Lanceros as I love that size, but the GCs were on sale, so they won. Next box...

IMHO, the Antanos do mellow a bit with age, but they'll still pack the punch you had in mind when you bought them.

I shared in those lanceros and have to say I agree, they were very smooth yet still powerfull.....they lost the "bite" in the back of the throat that I normally experience with the fresh ones.

I have never experienced the Gran Reserva either but both the Celebracion and Antano are in my regular rotation, I particulaly enjoy the consul vitola.

The Gran Reserva is my cigar of choice on the N/C side. While it can be considered a strong cigar it does not have a harshness to it. The ones I have are from the initial batch in a special presentation case of 30 cigars in three sizes.

Is Uptown going to carry the Gran Reserva line?

I will find out. If it's available, I will carry it. Gotta tell you, I LOVE both lines we carry.
