For my first review here on CP I decided to write about something I've been wanting to try since I started lurking here about six months ago. I had my first Johnny-O! very recently. It was a Corona Extra that I picked up in the same sampler as this one. It was a very good cigar which made me want to try this one even more. After a long day at work I decided to cut out a little early (it's nice being the boss sometimes ;)). It was a beautiful night here in Wisconsin which made this cigar even more enjoyable. Now, enough with the sharing, on to the review.

The initial examination reveals a very nice roll. It is firm when squeezed with just a little give. There are no hard spots to be found. There is a nice tobacco aroma when I smell the foot. The bunch appears very even and the head has a very nice little pigtail.

I clip the cap and note a spot on pre-draw. I'm detecting a nice tobacco flavor with undertones of spice. I roast the foot with my torch and get a nice even burn going. My first draw is almost mild in strength. A light tobacco flavor is present and very nice. As I progress into the first third I notice hints of cocoa, cedar, and rich tobacco. There is a light spice present in the aftertaste.

The strength builds slightly as I progress into the second third. The cocoa is still present while the spice has almost disappeared. Instead I detect notes of hay which I attribute to the youth of this cigar. The rich tobacco is still the prominent flavor present.

When I reach the final third the spice has returned. It is more present than before, but not overpowering. The hay has left and the cocoa becomes less present the closer to the end I get. The tobacco flavor stays and lasts well after I finish the cigar. I found the finish to be very smooth and enjoyable.

All told, this was a wonderful cigar. I'm very happy that I have more. I can't wait to try the other's in the sampler! If they are anywhere near as good as this one was, I may have to start a savings account just for these. :whistling: Thank you John for doing what you do, and doing it very well! Thank you CP for teaching me about these delicious cigars!

I had my first Johnny recently as well, and it was the same vitola. I would have to say it was by far one of the best cigars I have had, and I can only imagine what some of these with a few years on them would be like! Great review, your experience mirrored mine, very much so. My buddy and I are putting away a little cash for the next month so we can order a bundle of these to age.

I had this same cigar last night. Mine had a very tight draw and the flavor were quite a bit different than the Corona Extra pigtail and the baby Salomone that I had earlier in the week. It had more of a grass taste at the beginning and more leather than the other two. I have another Corona Extra left to smoke and if it as good as the first one, I'm going to need to get a bundle.

Thanks for the review, well done. John's recent cigars (last year or so) have really been spot on. They have always been enjoyable, but recent runs seem to be even more on point!
