J.L. SALAZAR y HERMANOS Reserva Especial Cigars Churchill
7 1/4 x 52
I sparked this up in my (unbelievably) Cigar friendly hotel room (Yes, Smoking Hotel Rooms do still exist - at least in Korea) expecting an average, daily smoke. This has to be one of the most impressive $5 sticks I've had in a long while. Construction was nice, although the cap seemed a bit small. I tried to close clip the end when I cut but the remainder of the cap still came off. Probably because I was reluctant to take it out of my mouth <grin>. The aroma was light to begin, so I lit the foot and took the first taste. A nice, thick medium-bodied bellow of smoke greeted my tongue dancing with with flavors. It started out wiht a cedar / mahoghany taste with hints of cocoa. As it progressed, there some subtle floral hints I'm just not experienced enough to pull out. It picked up strength as it went and platued at what I would call med-full. (Nowhere near a Ligero, Opus etc)
Burn needed a touch up or two as it seemed to burn slightly faster on the bottom if I didn't rotate it as I smoked (which was forgotten as I read - which is my favorite accompanyment to a fine cigar when smoking alone) Ash was a nice light grey and only flaked when I needed to touch up the burn.
All in all - I'll probably look at a box or box split next year, as I think this would be a great regular smoke (at under $100 a box) and would like to try and age a few too.
