I recentaly did a fiver trade for these with One of our BOTL.
Appearance: In one word ugly. But then again so am I but that doesn’t make me a bad guy .
The wrapper is very dark almost black. The stick itself is packed with tobacco to the point where its bumpy like a knotty tree. The foot is almost totally capped, and it has a twisted pigtail cap at the head.
Prelight: I took the cap off with a razor . I found it hard to do a prelight draw due to the capped foot . But what I did get was Earth like soil taste .
First third: I toasted the foot but it took a while to get going. I’m wondering if I should have sniped the foot a bit. It opened up sweet . I was getting a sweet malt flavor for the first third,( I liked this a lot ). A grassy hay flavor popped in and out at times (not so plesent to me ). The ash was a dark grey and looked like it exploded. (flowering? ) . Getting towards the second third a mocha flavor showed up. The burn was uneven to put it nicely.
Second Third: the malt flavor I was enjoying starts to fade. But the mocha flavor starts to build, and the burn evens itself out. I get lickerish when exhaled through the nose. Towards the end of the second third the mocha fades and brings up some spice.
Last third: The wrapper splits by the head. Hints of peppers through the nose. But then I get a spicy coffee flavor like in New Orleans for a short time 3-5 puffs. Then it gets bitter.
The nub: I purge to get rid of the bitterness and it goes away for a short time (alright!!) I get a nice coco taste but not for long , then it gets bitter quick Bitter, Bitter, Bitter I’m putting this one out of its misery.
In conclusion great smoke on the first half. But not one to nub. Great shop smoke
And you can't beat the price
