I received two cigars from Jameson Cigar Co. on condition of doing a review once I smoked them both. Here it is. :)

Jameson Cigar Co. Black Label Torpedo
6x54
W: Brazilian Maduro
F: Dominican Republic
B: Honduran

The Jameson cigars are very nicely presented. The label is very nice and it's simplicity sets it apart from some of the labels out there today.

The cigar itself has a bit of texture to it with one prominent vein in the wrapper that runs from cap to foot following the wrap of the cigar. It's a pretty thick vein. This wrapper is said to be a maduro from Brazil, but it is about the lightest maduro I've seen. It almost looks like a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper.

The aroma from the uncut cigar is that of black tea. It's quite pleasant. After cutting the draw is a little loose, but not so loose as to be a problem. The prelight flavors are subtle. The maduro wrapper is very light in color, and the maduro flavor matches the lightness of the wrapper.

The first third of the cigar yields a nice straight forward tobacco flavor with a slight touch of natural sweetness. Nasal exhalation brings out a slight touch of black pepper that is far too subtle to be harsh. The cigar burns without any problems whatsoever, which is somewhat surprising given the thickness of the vein in the wrapper.

At about the half way point the cigar starts to produce more flavor. The tobacco is still in front, but there's a honey like quality to the flavor. This sweetness is not subtle by any means, but it certainly isn't cloying. The cigar has been very smooth from the beginning.

After smoking about two thirds of the cigar the sweetness goes away and it's just straight tobacco flavor with a touch of spiciness. Not a lot, but enough to make the nasal exhalation a little unpleasant. I put it down with about an inch left.

Overall this was a pretty good cigar. The tobacco flavor is right out in front putting it in the medium bodied range for me. There is some nicotine strength to this cigar. It's not a head spinner, but I could definitely tell I was smoking a cigar. I'd put it on the medium side for strength. The finish is very clean.

I'm at a point in my cigar smoking that I only buy cigars that I really like. While these Jameson cigars are quality sticks, they didn't reach the buy threshold for me. I would give them a solid 8 out of 10. I need at least a 9 at this point to lay down my money for cigars. They seem to be well constructed cigars made with very good tobacco so some folks will like them more than I did for sure.
