J Fuego Delirium Lancero
7 1/2 x 38
Wrapper: Brazilian maduro
Filler: Honduran and Nicaraguan
Al (puffstuff) sent out fivers of the Delirium Lancero to many folks here at CP, and being one of those lucky enough to get some I thought it was a good opportunity to do another MN group review. I had the review finished a while back, but misplaced my photos until now. Turns out only a couple were worth posting (camera phone), but I do think the following comments summed up our experience with this cigar well.
The cigar began with nutty, cocoa flavors. We didn't recognize any of the harshness that some of the other CPers had previously noted. Perhaps this was do to a couple months downtime in the cooler. Everyone found the finish to be bland, or even nonexistent, but the cigar did have a very clean burn. The cigar was smooth throughout without any hints of spice. Towards the middle of the cigar, we began to note a subtle finish that each of us struggled to describe. It was at last agreed that the finish was soapy in flavor, sort of like wiping your tongue with a wet nap. We kept waiting for the cigar to give us a little something more, but that little something never came. It had an unfulfilled potential the whole way through, sort of like the prom date that never put out.
Tim (sinnyc) enjoying his Delirium
Joe (simmsboard pondering his car purchase)
The Delirium Lancero retails for around $6.50 a stick. None of the MN gang found it to be the type of cigar you would light up for a celebratory moment, but we did feel it made for a nice smoke to have while in the company of good conversation. Overall, the cigar was quite one-dimensional, but it delivered enjoyable flavor without the hassles of touching up.
Al, thank you very much for the opportunity to try this cigar and to enjoy it together.
