This just off CNN this morning. Nothing major, but keeps us up to date.

Who's going to be the President that steps up and realizes the Embargo needs to go...

I think this trade embargo is old and out dated and needs to be put to rest IMOP.

Alot of people feel that way. Problem is, there are alot of Cuban Americans that are adamant that not go forward. I am ok with lifting the ban for cigars, coffee and rum!!

What do you think will happen to cigar quality if the embargo is lifted?

It will become terrible for a few years in my opinion. Not only would quality suffer, but pricing would rise due to supply and demand till things leveled so to speak.

I think price would go down, because they would be legal. Just like if the made drugs legal, you take out the middle man, prices drop.

Let's not forget is would reduce Swiss air flights causing less carbon polution, it would reduce workers needed in Chicago customs, it might give our Nic's and Dom's a price reduction because they now have competition, it would reduce the folks who make the fake stuff, it would make us smile and drink more. Wish Obama smoked cigars like Kennedy :)

It would be interesting that is for sure to see what happens. Doubt it will happen in my lifetime, but you never know.

You know it is illegal for US citizen's to buy/smoke these cigars? Just saying, don't want you getting poked in the eye!

Im very aware. Moe was talking cigars but I was talking about "things". See how I did that there? ;)

I respectfully disagree. They are just as expensive everywhere else in the world where they are legal for those citizens to buy and smoke them. They are expensive because of what they are, not who can't have them. No real reason that the price would drop just because Little 'Ol 'Merka can now have them, too. In fact, I'd bet the retail price would actually go up a bit on those being imported to the USA, at least for a bit since demand would be so great. I also think that you'd have just as many, if not more, fakes available to the suckers victims who don't know better since THEY would be welcomed in with open arms, as well.

They have been importing lots of.tobacco due to the last few bad hurricanes. hopefully the quality of tobacco actually grown on the island will improve

They've been doing that for years. The Padrons are some of their biggest suppliers.

Has anyone else heard about them importing a fair amount of our tobacco, previously used for cigarettes (prior to the curing obv.) given all the new anti-smoking laws nationally?
