I know it's a long shot, but I'm looking for a couple bottles of Dark Lord. Would love to have some prior to 2010 if at all possible. I've got some beer to trade or can pay cash. If anyone is willing, please PM.

You DO know this stuff is like, way hard to find right? Like, one of the hardest beers in the world to find right??

In the world? I see it get traded on beer advocate all the time. Something like Black Tuesday from The Bruery is MUCH harder to find which is why I joined the Bruery Reserve Society for next year. There are tons of special limited beers that are harder to find than Dark Lord...not saying DL isn't hard to find but it's definitely not at the top of the list. :)

That's true, but this isn't BA either so the bottles of DL aren't exactly in abundance here. The last beer trade I made here was with Denverdog a couple of years ago. I sent him a bottle of Sexual Chocolate for an '08 DL and a bottle of Abyss so IMHO what Greg was offering up in trade wouldn't come close to getting a bottle of DL. Not everyone has the connections or trades on BA....especially for an older bottle like he is asking for. I don't think Jon is going to argue the point of there being beers that are harder to find than DL, I think the point he's trying to make is that someone has already fulfilled Greg on one bottle and now he's asking for another when it is one of the harder beers to come by even if you're in the beer circles in the likes of BA.
 
Thanks Brian, that's exactly what I was saying. Greg is a big boy, and its not necessarily violating any rules, it just comes off as bad form. Its like me asking for an OR Opus or a maduro Opus, then posting: "Thanks brothers, one generous bother has offered to send one to me! Now I just need another so if you have any, send them my way!"

It just doesn't sit with me is all.

The OP was an ISO for two bottles of DL and Greg did offer to trade or pay cash. He's got one down, but still looking for another. I don't see this as bad form.

I would understand the concern if this was the MAWPIF thread for beer. Or, if he originally asked for one bottle, got it and then decided "well that was easy, I want another freebie".

ISO 2 Dark Lords minus granted 1 Dark Lord = Still ISO 1 Dark Lord

Look's like simple math to me. ???

He was ISO of two originally and still is ISO one more. I don't see an issue here.
 
Yeah, well opinions differ and that's all I have to add about this.
 
I was absolutely blown away with the offer of a DL to be sent to me just like that. It goes to show what this place is all about, BOTL who simply get it. My ISO was not for me Jon, but to be a gift to someone that I feel is a brother to me in every sense of the word. To see his face when he opened the package...priceless (pictures will be posted, of course). I did the ISO for two bottles in my OP (not sure how you missed that), so we both could hopefully share a bottle each; yes I wanted us to both share something really special for Christmas. I did not have my hopes up for a second bottle, again blown away that I actually was to get the first. That in itself was far more than enough.

I think there might be other issues at hand aside from this ISO thread. It was brought to my attention today that my posting things along the lines of "Man I can't wait to try one of these cigars" in threads has come off to some as mooching.

It was no more than genuinely wanting to try this cigar, and I did not intend for it to be construed as me hinting that I wanted someone to send me free cigars.

I'll be more careful about what I post from now on, even though it hurts that some think this about me, as I've always lived within the spirit of CP by contributing and PIF'ng.

After more thought on this subject in my currently drunken state, i feel the need to expound on the subject.

1) THIS IS NOT BA!!!

And if it ever turns in to BA, I will be beyond disappointed. The mindset there is "what's the best deal I can get", which I really hope is still the polar opposite of how we do things here.

2) OK, what Jeff offered isn't in the same realm of what you typically need to offer for a Dark Lord

While I can't argue the validity of this, who gives a fuck? If someone wants to send him a bottle or 20, they know the "value" and are free to do with their bottles as they desire.

3) I don't understand how Mr. Peat has survived for as long as he has on this board without question and people are questioning Jeff and calling him a mooch?

The only reason I brought up BA was because Jon said DL was the hardest beer in the world to get which was far from the truth. Around here? Maybe but if you really want one there are plenty of other options at your disposal. It was only an example of a place where I see it traded constantly. IMO this place will never be like BA...there are way too many aholes on that site and the Bros won't do much about it. Around here we keep the aholes out and the generosity is amazing. I've done trades here that probably never would have been completed there...and I've hooked guys up as well.

BTW Kingantz is Greg not Jeff...lol.
