Is there a tobacco beetle trap?

I have read that one of the ISOM vendors uses beetle traps.
Anyone have any idea what the hell a beetle trap is?
Does anybody use them?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks much,

Rob

The only beetle trap I know of is a freezer. Some even say microwave rays. Which vendor is it? Maybe we can do a search on it.

Yes,

There are such things as beetle traps. I have personally seen these and talked to a cigar store manager who told me about them and even showed me one that had 4 or 5 of these little bastards stuck to them. These are a combination of pheromone lure and glue pad trap. They were the brand identified in the link MMM posted.

I've never had a beetle problem. If you keep the cigars cool enough (60 to 65 degrees) it considerably reduces your chances of beetle problems.

MMM,
Thanks much for the link!
The first thing I read was...

Cigarette Beetle NoSurvivor Case
100 NoSurvivor Traps with Hangers and 100 Cigarette Beetle Bullet Lures

Price: $625.00

I almost crapped my pants! Then I saw it ws for a hundred traps...
Any idea on how long a single trap works?
Nevermind I found this on the site ... Lures are effective for two months after this they should be replaced with new ones

Just remember, these will not prevent a problem. They are only good at letting you know if you have an infestation. I picked up a 10er from the above site and have a few lying around in the 'dor. False sense of security?, maybe. But, my hopes is if one box gets infected those little bastards make their way to the trap long before they feast on another box :)

Unfortunately some us of live a little farther south. It is impossible to keep my stash anywhere that cool.

Interesting about the traps though, I had never heard of them. I initially though they must be made by the same company that blends chocolate with their cigars :whistling:

Yes, you are correct, sorry about that. One of the few ADVANTAGES of living in the north. I keep my coolerdors in my finished basement and even in the summer it rarely gets over 65 degrees F.

These could also attract otehr types of beetles, like carpet beetles, which look very similar to tobacco beetles. So, if you don't have the problem, don't provoke it...

It got down to 65 degrees one night last week.
That's the coldest it's been this winter here

Same here. Igloodor is 58.8 right now. ... love that remote Rasdioshack temp and humi reader! I also just became a VIP member of a local new store. Get a locker. I figured it would be insurance to diversify my inventory locations.
