Hey fellow cigar enthusiasts,

I tried all of the search functions and was not able to find any discussions on Cigar Holders.

I picked up a cigar holder when i was in Cuba last and absolutely love it.

I share cigars with friends and as a lot of them are new to cigars they usually end up "juicing" them. I usually end up cutting about a 1/4" off the end after smoking it for a bit as it typically will stop pulling well and i find it kinda gross. The cigar holder solved this problem perfectly! The one that i bought was similar to the ones in the picture below.

What do you guys think?

I don't know anyone that uses 'em... but use whatever you want, man. Who cares what others think? (So long as it's not a pink one!)

I'm not sure this belongs in the Pipe Room. If you're looking for more discussion about it, you may want to PM Rod and see if he'll move it to the Cigar Room or the Humidor Room. I don't know if he will, but it doesn't hurt to ask before making a new post in one of those areas.

For the record, I don't use one. If you want to, have at it. I don't think it's necessarily taboo.

I think passing around a cigar like a joint is disgusting. Someone using a cigar holder wouldn't bother me at all.

Doc.

Oh, wait a minute. I misunderstood that part. I thought you just meant you shared your stash, not an actual cigar. That's nasty...

If you're just sharing your stash, that's what it's about.

I apologize, I was not clear on how the cigar holder works. The holder goes on the end of the cigar and you smoke the pipe end of the holder.

I agree that it is not preferable to pass a cigar around but i always get sucked into it with friends who are new to cigars. It always starts out with me saying "Would you like to smoke a cigar?" and they always say "I don't think i could smoke a whole one by my-self". We go back and forth and almost always end up sharing a cigar. SO the holder comes in handy as you can simply wipe it off and pass it on :D

I have a graduated set of carved meerschaum cigar holders which was a gift from my Shield Brother and BOTL. I don't use them, but they're beautiful.

Uh, if you do end up in a pass remember you can only trade UNsmoked cigars. No matter how much you wipe them off first.

But what if he keeps the tip on?

But what if he keeps the tip on?

Well, I'm assuming he'll send them with the tip. How else would we get to test it out to see if the rest of us in the pass might like to use one was well?

Seriously though Joe, use what ever you like to smoke don't worry about how dainty it is. After all, they only put bands on the suckers to keep the Queen's fingers from getting stained.

Haha. I got it Rural. I wish i had more to share!!! I'll will work on getting more to share for sure.

Re-lighting any cigar and trying to smoke it is TABOO!!! It is nasty and i would never do it.

When i said wipe it off and pass it on it was for that one cigar among the friends/family smoking it that day.

Boar,

You should give one of them a test drive! I actually find that they allow you to control the pull on the cigar better as well.

Joe

Oh I got it

All joking aside, like was said already, don't worry about how it looks or what people will think; smoke what you want how you want.

If you do get seroius about collecting don't just focus on CCs. There are a lot of non-cubans that are very good and much cheaper from the US.

Mike

Thanks for the advise Mike!

Can you recommend any very good ones from the US? I will see if they are available at our local tobacconist shop.

Joe

Well you can't go wrong with a Padron 2000 or 3000. My advice would be to do some searching and reading of reviews to see what cigars you might like, write them down, then order a sampler of them from the US from some vendors here. If you have trouble getting shipping up to Canada PM me. You can get 5 or 6 cigars ordered from the US with shipping for the price you'll pay if you buy the same ones in Canada.

Also if you have more questions be sure to bring them to the cigar lounge or lobby as these pipe guys get all pissy if you talk cigars in their forum. :sign:

I have a pair of dunhill bruyere cigar holders, unfortunately they're on the small side so I don't get to use them often but they're nice to have around.

Thanks for the tips Mike. I'll order some up sometime next week. and of course will use my cigar holder! lol.
