Went to Tinderbox in Mesa for the first time today. Looked around for 5 or 10 minutes, picked up a couple of sticks. While I was in the walk in, the owner was smoking a pipe chatting with someone inside. Didn't think much of it at first but after leaving, I stuck my nose inside the bag and all my cigars reeked of smoke and assume they smoke in the humi all the time. Is that a normal thing? Just doesn't seem right to me.

In lighter news, I found the one and only Springfield XD sub-compact .40 in the valley and picked it up! Bad guys beware. Muah-hah-hah!!!

hmm we smoke all the time when walking in the humi at the local B&M..

It is very bad to smoke inside the humidor.

The B&M's with larger humidors usually have signs that say NO SMOKING allowed inside the humidor.

It's never been an issue in any I've been to. Now I don't sit in there and smoke a whole cigar, but I'll walk in the humi and look around a bit while puffing on a cigar.

I've never been told not to do it.

Yea thats what I meant. It's not like we a sitting down puffing away. Holt's lets you smoke in their apartment sized humi.

Our local B&M has smokers all the time when manufacturer's reps come by. The smoke is chokingly thick. I'll smoke if they allow it, but I'd prefer they didn't

The XD-40 is a great shooter, if you are using for CC make sure you put a few hundred rounds through it first to smooth out the action. As for the humi, I have no idea.

Yeah, smokers in the humi suck! I have bought cigars that smelled like smoke before, not happy. I prefer the shops that don't let you smoke in the humidor, but instead have a smoking area outside the humidor...wish all B&Ms were like that...

Should I keep the smokey cigars out of my humi? I am thinking I should but will the smell ever go away? It is actually really bad...they don't smell like a cigar...it smells like old pipe smoke.

As for the XD, yes it is for CC and I always try to put a few hundred rounds of several brands to be sure that if I ever need to use it, it won't fail me.

Edited for typo.

A few months back I was at Nat Shermans in NYC and there were a number of guys sitting in the Humi room smoking away. Not just walking around but sitting and smoking whole cigars. I was wondering about this...
I would think on a long term scale it would be the equivalent of smoking a cigar and putting the butt inside your desktop humi. Not something I would want to deal with!

Rectifythis...... I'd return the cigars if I were you. Why bother dealing with it. You pay good money you should have fresh cigars!

I've yet to run across a B&M that did permit smoking inside the humi. My regular definitely does not.

I would not smoke in a walk in humi.

Place like Holt's and Nat's probably have a high enough/quick turnover of product that it may not be a problem.

I know the guy at the local shop here doesn't allow it. I never would anyway... cigars shouldn't smell like smoke until AFTER they are lit.

As far as I've seen, it really varies... Cigars International in Bethlehem has their stock all out in the open with the whole store humidified, usually the windows are completely fogged over with smoke and moisture. Generally speaking I'll try not to puff too much on my cigar in the walk-in, but won't think twice about brining one in with me.

Recently the boss has decided to ban smoking in the warehouse, he's getting into the candy buisiness.

one local doesn't care (and is clueless to the question) , one hasn't said what it wants, and one hates it -- can you guess which is which?!?!

I know the names of the first 2 but not which policy fits which one and the answer to #3 is The Outlaw.

NO SMOKING IN THE HUMIDOR

Damn right! If I saw that I would turn around and walk out, just plain bad form IMHO.
