Hello-

Thought I'd introduce myself with a few cigar reviews from this weekend. I've been smoking cigars for 5 or 6 years, but only recently started paying attention to what I smoked. I just finished a 48 quart igloodor this weekend, and started filling it with Villazons [anyone got some they want to get ride of, Mikes is out], Montagues, and JR Alts, along with a few different singles. Hopefully I can get a few more orders in before my wife takes the credit card away!

I live in Seattle, work as a computer/network tech. Other hobbies: brewing beer and motorcycles. Now, on to the reviews:

---------------------------

Genuine Pre-Embargo Counterfeit Cubans
1958 Gourmet Figurado
4.75 X 50
Paid $5.99 *

Initial impressions:

I really like the look of this type of roll. I don't really know why, I just do. Nice dark wrapper, slightly oily. Had a very rich scent. Punched it, and it had a very nice, pre-light draw. Definately had a "bite" that I would identify as cuban-like.
Smoke:

Lighting this cigar is easy... single match easy. Nice when you're at the bar trying to loose at pool. Lots of thick smoke. Very nice rich flavor with a little "bite" in the back of my throat. This cigar just kept gettting better, richer and never bitter. At $2/each from JR's, I might put some of these in the igloodor.

---------------------------

El Rey Del Mundo
Robusto Larga Double Maduro - Tissue wrapped
6 X 54
Paid $11.99 *

Picture 2

Initial Impressions:

The tissue wrapper is a nice touch. People at the bar thought it was pretty cool anyways. Nice rich sent, kinda smokey. Pre-light draw was a bit tough, but not bad.

Smoke:

Started realitively strong, and stayed that way. Not alot of depth or change in the flavor. Just strong, tobacco flavor. About 2/3rds into the cigar, it got very hot, and stayed that way. Even after leaving it alone for 5 mins or so, it still wanted to burn very hot. For the price, it's a big looser. Don't get me wrong, it was a great cigar, but not at all worth the price.

Welcome nic! Nice reviews. I think there's a forum for set aside for cigar reviews. I believe its called "What have you been smoking lately?" or something like that.

Thanks vewyphishy. I wasn't sure which forum I should post to, as it was both an intro and review. I'll see that future reviews make it to the correct location. :D

Welcome to CP. I'm a newbie also. Soon as you can do a newbie trade with a FOG. You will not be disapointed. I did one with Lucasbuck and got a tremendous amount of good smokes. I ride bikes also. What do you ride? :D

Which one? I've got 9 in the garage - but mostly a 1997 Ducati Monster 750. Tell me more about this newbie trade thing, sounds interesting.

Welcome nic!!

There is a newbie sampler trade where you basically contact the next person on the list who usually wants you to buy him a few five packs or a box of a certain kind of cigar. In return, he sends you an equivalent sampler of cigars worth the same as the box you bought.

It's a GREAT deal!!

I spent almost my entire sunday reading the entire forum for this website. Looks like an awsome crowd. I can't wait until I get involved in my first pass and/or trade.

You guys rule.

Great rweview....and welcome, these guys are great. Definitely try the Newbie trade...it's excellent.

(You do have a taste for fine things. I have a Ducati myself.)

Thanks DreC. I've wanted a Ducati for years, finally talked the wife into it around August. Love every minute of it. What do you have?

I looked at the trade forum, but the only newbie trade thread was locked, can someone point me towards the current one? Thanks.

re: the el Rey del Mundo, I actually quite enjoyed that cigar -- I think perhaps you paid more than you needed to for it though. My local smoke shop had them for $6 or so -- at that price, I considered it very worthwhile.

Howdy Nic and welcome to CP. Normally, everyone says there welcome aboard stuff in the Lobby. That's a little late now so kick back, fire up one of your favorite ceegars and get to postin'..... :) :)

You're right Moki, I did pay too much. The cigar was purchased in Seattle where tobacco taxes are huge. $12 minus taxes was probably $6-8. I'd love to try one again, but not at that price.

JR sells a five pack of the ERDM Robusto Larga for 11.25. Very good deal, but I did not enjoy the cigar. I've heard that I should decrease the humidity in my cooler and let them sit for a while before trying them again.

Moki, it's too bad you went and bought one. That's the only stick that was on anyone's wishlist that I actually had :p
