Inovative Fan Idea

That is pretty cool, but the Oust fans don't move a whole lotta air. You can go to newegg.com and get a couple of 80 cfm computer fans for $4 a piece or less.

Yep, my oust fans aren't doing jack. 62% on the top shelf and 68% on the bottom. Might have to look on newegg, thenks for the heads up Brian.

Are any of the fans on there battery operated Brian?

Not to my knowledge. I think you'll have to splice the wire into a 12v dc converter to run them. The vinotemp I bought has interior lights so I'll wait to see the setup and then run the fans through a timer and into the wiring for the internal lights.

OK, you have a PM.

Brian, when you get it figured out, post a diagram for my non-electrical, unable to rig stuff up self. :D

OK, since my post makes it sound like I actually know what I'm doing, I'll let you know now that I don't. I'm waiting for a instructional manual to be pm'ed to me from a member when he gets some time today. I will post pics of the vinotemp and fan setup when I get it together.

Neat idea, but it seems to eat up a lot of space for a few fans.

Why not buy a Hydra from Cigarmony and get two extra fans for around $100 total?

Hmmm...

Got me the hydra, and 3 fans for $100.

I also got the Hydra with the fans. I am sorry to say those fans are very small for anything larger than a large desktop.

I am running the Hydra in my Aristocrat Mini and it is working great.

I re-wired the fans that came with the unit to a Radio Shack 80mm fans and it works great. No more than 1-2% difference in the top and bottom of the unit.

The extra fan goes on everytime the Hydra fan kicks on.

If anyone has any question to how I did this, PM me. I am not an elecrtical engineer by any means.

The Hydra unit works great!

Fans and a DC supply are cheap, but a decent timer with some programmability isn't. I've looked around and can't find anything "reasonable" that would run, say, four fans. Still looking, though.

I may look into using a small micro controller and whipping up a little circuit board; we'll see how much "spare" time I have over my sabbatical this year....B.B.S.

BBS...before I was using the Hydra, I was using the fan connected to this electronic time. You could run a couple off this one with an

It is digital and has up 14 on/off per day.

digital timer

Very easy to use.
