Good Evening Folks
Well, TGIF.. Like most of you, I look forward to a weekend off , I figured I would lay low tonight and fire up a nice stick or 2 to start things off right.
I hope you all have a good weekend and can enjoy some time to yourselves or with a crowd if you choose. Just be safe ..
This cigar came in a "Full Flavor" sampler pack I purchased a while back. I think this averaged to price out around $6.
It has been in my Humi for about a month. ( I am consistantly at 68-70 on both numbers here)
While I gazed upon my humble selection after work, This one seemed to beckon more then the others for release from its wrapper.
So here it goes. :whistling:
( FYI- All my pictures are taken with a Minolta "Dimage Z6" 35mm-420mm / 6 MP / 12x optical zoom.. I used to also employ this camera to take super clear close-ups of my saltwater reef tank livestock.. Before I sorta gave up that hobby.. sorta.. )
1) Construction - Very well built .. Like a thick piece of leather for a wrap with a few decent sized veins.. You could probably use this thing as a jack-stand in a pinch. It was sturdy very well put together. Very Manly.. LOL, This cigar smelled nice and sort of earthy when I took off the cellophane.
2) I just cap cut this one and toasted the foot.. It easily Lit and burned very evenly all the way through. ( Sorry I fogot to take a picture of the foot prior to ignition, But I grabbed one of it after just one puff)
This smoke did not draw that easily when compared to some others I had, but it didn't take that much effort and was not a problem at all.
3) Taste-
1/3rd - Very Pleasant with hints of earth, and a slightly leathery taste as well as feel. I also sensed something like dark chocolate and coffee mixed together. This was Pretty complex to try to pick them all out so early on in this cigar. But It was an enjoyable taste and smelled very nice too. My wife even commented on how nice it smelled. ( She usually don't make any comments unless she is in my truck with me when I have one cooking. ) Personally , I wouldn't call it aromatic.. (But if the wife digs the smell, Its gets an extra point or 2.)
Keeping things in perspective fellas, When asked if it smelled good enough to bring to living room instead of me being ourt on the deck... she still said "NO".. "Not that good"
2/3rd - Very Dense and white thick smoke.. The leather stuck around and stayed around here at this point , But never got overpowering. The earthiness disappeared. The cigar sorta calmed down a bit and all the flavors ( minus the earth hints) just kicked into a fuller, richer taste. The wrap started to get softer and I found myself biting the end a little as I turned it around between puffs.
3/3rd - Still very good and it did not get noticably stronger then flavor packed portion of the 2/3. A slight taste of pepper and spice started playing into this smoke right after I took of the band. This was a surprise and somewhat enjoyable.
The Nub- A bit stronger on the peppercorn taste, Not unpleasant or overpowering.
It started to get a bit hot on the temperature side of things a little earlier then I thought it would . ( This may be because of the way I was manipulating the nub end throughout this smoking experience) I did keep it going a while and finally put it down at about the 1 inch mark.
The ash was well organized throughout this one man party and seemed it would have stayed on for quite a while. I was sitting on my back porch and it was a bit windy too.
It did not drop off easily and in fact took some force to get it to fall. It appeared to be alternating lines of black and gray.
I would overall call this a pretty good smoke, But NOT one I would buy a box of yet.
I know "Indian Tabac" is made by Rocky Patel . But IMO, I would not put this one in the league of some of his signature line or even the "Fusion MM" I reviewed the other day.
I hope you enjoyed another of my newbie reviews.. I will continue to post some more and always welcome your feedback, opinions and comments.
