Has anyone out there smoked this cigar?...impressions?

I read about them before its release last Summer and saw a few reviews online, but haven't heard much about them since. CA just had a blurb about them and they don't seem to be all over the place.

Thanks.

It's a decent cigar, Gary, but I think you should smoke it as your first cigar of the day, after a decent brunch. If you smoke everyday, and possibly a couple or more a day, and tend to smoke full flavored cigars, you might not enjoy this as a second or third cigar of the day. The big ring also lets in more air, so, to me, it is more tame. Elegant and somewhat refined, but not the flavor bomb for a palate that smokes a lot. If I remember right, it was a bit tannic. Worth trying at least one.

To me, Dion's smokes are an objective; something he is truly trying to achieve as an art form, rather than purely a cash infusion.

Thanks for the advice Danny. It sounds like something I would like as I've been on a medium cigar kick for the last 9 months or so. I've been trying to get my palette back to 'tasting properly' after smoking all those Nicaraguan flavor bombs over the last few years. I had found most of my cigars all tasting the same to me lately....but now I'm back on track and occasionally mix in the powerhouses to the rest of my rotation.

I may have to try a 5er to see if I like them.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and your son!

Thank you for the kind wishes, Gary! All the same to you and yours, too.

Yes! I had to do the same thing. It really helped too. Smoking my pipes more sort of forced me to put into practice what I knew I had to do, but refused to due to not wanting to go through the "growing pains".

Out of curiosity, how many cigars per day do you gentlemen smoke?

Edited for stupid autocorrect

1-2-3...sometimes more, sometime none. Depends on my workload and time available.

If I smoked that much I couldn't tell shit from shinola within a week. Then again, I draw pretty aggressively and favor long format smokes that are on the strong side for the most part. I'm impressed that you are able to manage your habit so well.

 ...I hear ya' about that one, which is why I have to back off occasionally to give my palette a chance to regain it's ability to taste again!

But also keep in mind John, very few of the cigars I smoke are churchill or similar sized cigars. That was my point in starting the thread about what size cigars are guys smoking lately and do you still buy churchill sized cigars. Of the cigars I smoke daily, a good many are petite coronas, coronas, belicosos, and robustos.

Gary your experiences and choices are like signposts seen in the distance that hint at the road that lies ahead of me. Thank you for sharing them. One of the things i seem to be learning at the moment is that you have to pick and choose your moments for that grand cigar.

Quite the opposite for me. I have finally learned to smoke that grand cigar any time I get an opportunity to do so. Life is way too short.

Me too. No sense croaking with a humidor full of "special cigars" that just kept getting saved for the "right" moment!

At the same time, smoking multiple super premiums per day isn't going to lead to the same appreciation of them as if they were smoked with more discretion.
I think it's all about balance, and I've been learning to slow down a bit when it comes to cigars. Slow down and smell the roses and appreciate a variety of experiences.

"Should I smoke them or save them?...if I save them, for what occasion? A really big occasion or just any special occasion?" The root of these types of heart wrenching fluctuations between cognizance and confusion have eluded me for quite some time!

I guess when you wake up one morning and realize that you have more days behind you than in front, adopting that philosophy of 'live for today' is a logical course of action.

I'll let you guys know when I get to that point.

Because I still have a long way to go and too much to do!  ;)

I like the way you think brother! Wish you many more years ahead than what the past have already claimed
