I always hear that patience is a virtue..

But damn I dont have any patience.

I recently received my new Shiloh humidor from bargainhumidors

And I am seasoning it as they say.

Well it has been 2 days and the damn humidor is still at 55%RH.

All my cigars keep wanting to go into the humidor.. I dont think they like their old home anymore.

I guess I will have to wait a cple more days for this humi to come to a relative state of perfect humidity.. :D

The hygro is calibrated (via the salt test)..

Is there any way to speed up the process os seasoning?

I have a shot glass of distilled water sitting in there. WOuld it be better to use a larger bowl? Also i have read that some places suggest using the damp cloth method..while othere completely discourage this due to the fact that one might damage the smooth finish of the spanish cedar..

Also i cant seem to track down any 65% beads.. So until than I will be using the credo that came with the humi..

Any suggestions is appreciated.. And my cigars also thank you :whistling:

Put a couple paper towel's in a small plastic container and saturate it with DI water. You can also wipe the interior down with a damp cloth.

A larger water container will help a little. If you stop opening it every 5 minutes to check things will speed up too.

:D

Thats why i got the glass top..because i am obsessed with looking at my cigars..

You'll be alright wiping the inside of that thing down. Take a sponge and dampen it with distilled water, lightly wipe the inside with the sponge, the wood should darken in color a bit. Check it in a couple of hours and repeat if necessary.

Good luck! :D

I agree with Leebo. When I used to use a desktop humi, I would wipe it down with a sponge soaked in distilled water. At that time, I used to use a small humidification device that I would soak with distilled water.

I would recommend beads for any humi at this point. You should be able to get them from vern or that other guy who posted here who was selling them.

OR just buy a humi from ArlinLiss

(I saw him looking at the thread :D )

I just ordered 1/2 pound of beads from Climmax and spoke to them this morning. He said they were packaged and waiting to be shipped. :D

I'll post some pics of my new Igloodor as soon as I have the beads in there. :whistling:

I did wipe down the pieces of cedar I put in there with distilled water on a sponge, that seemed to work pretty well. My old Humi (which I sold on e-bay) I wiped down the cedar side and draws and never had any problems. I just wiped them down until they were dark not not soaked.

ArlinLiss ???
