I see alot of guys when they order boxes or do splits are concerned with "box codes". I understand what the stand for (factories & production dates) but what signifigance do they have in relation to the cigars.... Is there a reference site were the codes can be deciphered...

I also see you guys refer to RASCC & RASS... what type of cigars are these....

Please PM or E-mail me if the info is not for public boards....

Thanks

Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas Review:

A special format for a special market. It is hard to believe that someone migth want a shorter Montecristo No 4, but it is so. It is one of those whims that Ramon Allones has tried to satisfy. Its major advantage is that doog quality leaves or half-leaves, unsuitable for larger formats, can be selected. A very well manufactured curio

Review #7: Hmmm, I really enjoyed the first one I had, but after trying a few more, though all had the same lovely full flavours, I realised how random the construction was. Generally with a very hard, tight roll. They burn very hot also which spoils them for me. They are a very nice smoke when you get a goodun, but it's few and far between, so 6/10 i'm afraid. - Submitted by A. Dyer on December 18, 2004

Review #6: A great little cigar! Mine was from the Partagas factory, November 2002, and very complex and packed with flavor. The first half was a balance of herbs, wood, leather, earthiness, and subtle hints of coffee and cocoa. The second half saw the herbal and woody qualities dominate and become deeper. Great construction to boot. I highly recommend these! - Submitted by Black Plague on November 11, 2004

Review #5: I somewhat regretfully just picked up a box of these in the absence of being able to pick up a box of monte #5's for an after lunch smoke at work. They are well constructed, decent draw- but, flat and didn't start to go anywhere until right before it got to hot to be inviting, and even then it didn't seem to be going anywhere to great. Going to trade these and wait out another box of monte 5's. - Submitted by Chris O on July 19, 2004

Review #4: Truth to tell I found these Ramon Allones strong, full bodied and a bit flat. They improved at half-way but also got hotter. Near the nub all 3 became very tarry and too hot to enjoy. As I've said before small Cuban's show a diminishing return on your investment so they need to be sure you enjoy them before you buy a box. I'll sample again sometime, not any time soon though. - Submitted by willisoften on April 15, 2004

Review #3: SUPERBE smoke, this cigar is amazing. Starts kind of tasteless, but quickly rights itself with a smooth mild taste. Midway through, it gets really meaty, with hints of wood and leather. The last 3rd to the nub is the best part, filled with nuttiness and volume. I't sno wonder these little buggers are so popular. - Submitted by Matt Risi on April 1, 2004

Review #2: The are great little heaters. RA's tend to offer plenty of body and are beautifully constructed. The small club is the perfect size for bumming around in the yard or with your morning coffee. - Submitted by peteando on March 13, 2004

Informative post Backslide, thanks for the cigar reviews link. I hadn't seen that website before.

Oh boy! More reviews to check. :) I've been at that site before but have not checked it in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

one way to think about boxcodes is like w/ wine.
Not everyone cares about dates and such, but some people take great stock in where the cigars were rolled [the factory] and the year in which it was done.
