I can now confidently and categorically state this as fact.

I have tried several now. At least one I suspected had dried out.

Today, in a completely lucid state of mind, I purchased and smoked a VSG Enchantment (the one that looks like a WOAM) and I was disappointed.

This is not a good $10 cigar. It's not even a good $5 cigar. Heck there are $2 cigars I enjoy more (Padron Delicias Maduros).

The first one the guy gave me had a bit of wrapper unraveling at the head so I had him get me another one. I punched it at first but the draw was too tight and so I clipped it. The draw was perfect. Got a good light and smoked it down.

I chatted with the guy at the store until they closed, then I stood at a corner and watched people passing by as a thunderstorm started to brew. It was a great experience. But it wasn't because of the cigar. It was harsh. The taste just didn't do anything for me.

What else can I say?

i don't think they're what they're cracked up to be. though, i'd say that is the best ashton cigar i've had. i think ashton's are crap overall. especially for the price. i'd take a sancho panza over an ashton any day.

I am under the impression that the tobacco they are using isn't the same quality as what had been used a few years back. I remember lighting up a VSG and holding on for the ride. Now adays they do not seem anywhere as rich. Just my 2 cents.

I agree, I haven't had much luck with VSG myself. Plenty of others out there for that money.

First, they need to be kept at very low rh to really shine. Second, they need to have at least a year in your humi before they are ready to smoke. Third, that fat little Enchantment looks cool but is my least favorite. I think they're just too damn fat to really impart that VSG goodness. Try a Tres Mystique before you give up on them ;)

well after offering to pick up whatever members wanted at MSRP now I know why no one took me up on the offer!

I love them, haven't had one lately... I'm gunn buy some of the freshiest ones I can find and hope they go good. ???

I agree with the Sheriff, Tres Mystique nice smoke. I like the VSG's a lot, but don't think they should be as high priced as they are. I also find that the wrappers are a bit delicate and need to be handled carefully.

VSGs can be a bit bitter/harsh if they are fresh. I think they are a wonderful cigar blend tho -- I'd be happy to send you a nice aged one for you to "see the light" :)

Eat me.

The VSG is one of my absolute favorite NC cigars on the market. I put it right up there with Opus, PAM/PAN, and DCM. I love the taste, though the Tres Mystique is my least favorite for some reason. The Belicoso is my favorite. I agree, some age does wonders. I, however, have never had any issues with freshies. Just my 0.02.

I didn't jump on the VSG at MSRP because I just had too many irons in the fire, cigar-wise.

All joking aside, i agree with that comment, andrew don't send me anything lol.

I like VSG's, but they seem very inconsistent to me. I've had some that I absolutely love, and some that were very harsh.

It seems that the price went up on these also. I used to get the robusto's from my local shop for $8.50 apiece, and last I look, they are now $15 apiece. I can handle a little inconsistency for eight bucks, but not fifteen.
