Hygrometer issues

I got my fist humidor and all and the hygrometer that came with it is broken. A replacement is in route, but I have a Q. I started the seasoning on tuesday, and the replacement hygrometer will not be here to mid to late next week. Will it hurt the cigars if I put them in the humi now even though I don't know the humidity or should I keep them in the ziplock bags till the replacement gets here and I found out if the humi is right or not?

thanks for any info/help.

If you have properly seasoned your humi you should be okay to put your sticks in there, especially if they are just hanging out in B&M bags right now. In fact, the more cigars you have in your humi the easier it will be to maintain a consistent humidity level. Once you get the new hygrometer calibrated you might want to wait a couple days to make sure the humidity level is correct and your sticks are sitting at the right humidity before you smoke them, but if you're not OCD like me you might not have to worry about that.

Leave them in the bags. If you season it with them in there...you can over humidify them.
(the other side of that is drying out...and you'd know if that's happening.)

They should be fine for a few days in a freezer bag.

Over or under humidification would mean you'd have to wait either way to get the smokes back to a reasonable level.
Wait for the device.

I might just head to a B&M and snag a digital up so I can get this issue resolved. The analog that came with the box is probably not a good one, but either way right now I just don't have the cash to replace it myself cause I just blew what I had on the humi and 75 cigars. BTW they are pretty good for some cheaper cigars :-) but I don't want to loose them due to not being able to get them in the humi quick enough.

no tupperware, that's why they are in zippies, and freezer ones at that so they are sealed up better. I'll check the water level in the bolw I put in there to give me an idea on how far it is along, it could need till next week to finish seasoning for all I know....
