My daily newspaper is showing a severely flooded Honduros. The main road of the particular town in the picture looked like a major river. Has to affect the cigar industry there.

The projections shown on So FL TV projects that the storm will cross over Cuba with 130+ mph wind and then turn NE zipping by yours truly. I have to prepare. My home is 12' above sea level. There is a canal behind my home that is already full. Even if the the hurricaine is a near miss, flooding is a possibility. Rainfall on Monday is predicted at between 6" and 20". I understand the local Flood Control Authority is going to open the flood gates and start pumping water out of the canals into the ocean. Hope they get their act together and start soon.

I will keep everyone posted on the adventure. If I see a heavy rainfall, I may have to bail out and head North; taking only essentials, cigars, booze, wife, dog, birds, etc.

Good luck braving the storm.

Have you heard how Michelle affected our beloved tobacco growing regions? IE: the storm's path thus far.

I wonder if prices will rise due to the storm, if therer was any crop damage and such. I would think this is close to the end of the 2001 growing season. I dunno, just thinking out loud.

I trust that you and yours Pepe will be out of harms way. Take care.

Looks like South florida missed this storm. Lots of wind and rain, but little or no serious damage. Can't say the same for Cuba. They took the brunt of the storm. I hope the people were spared.

Good luck Pepe! I don't know what the situation in Cuba is after the hurricane, but word is only part of the new planting was in the ground because of some new farming methods Altadis is pushing for Habanos Sa to try out. If they got as much rain as expected though, next years crops will be damaged. Prices wil not necessarily be affected, but quality will once again. :( All this comes second hand, so don't take it as fact, as I could have heard wrong.

With the size of those Humidor's of your's Jeff, I'm sure you could fit the '00 and '01 crops in there. :D
