Humidor Troubles

I have about 30 sticks in a dry humidor right now. The gauge stuck and I didn't realize how severely dry the sticks had become in the last year (lived in a small apartment and didn't smoke at all for a while). I just bought and moved into my first house and I would like to salvage my sticks if I can. What's the best way of doing this?

No can do. If they have been sitting for over a year, toss em for eure. Once they dry out, the oils evaporate, there is no way to rejuvenate lost oils in a cigar. Start over by seasoning your humidor for at least a week. Buying a proper humidification piece, whether it be beads ot kitty litter, and picking up a proper hygromter. You can get all of these at Cigarmony.com, the owner, Mark, will answer all your questions and be glad to point you in the right direction.

what a shame. Good news is I've only lost about 5 cohibas which were about the only ones I was really worried about, but that's still a shame. The rest I'll have to use as bug repellant.

You've got nothing to lose by trying to rehumidify them. They will have lost taste and potential for sure, but you may end up with stuff that'll serve as yard gars. I imagine your neighbors might be impressed if they see you smoking a Cohiba while raking leaves.

If you do try to bring them back, do it slowly and gently. It may take a few weeks before they are in shape to smoke
