Humidor info...might be an amazing deal

I stopped into my local B & M today and realized they had humidors. I'd never seen them there before since they're kept away from the cigar area in a cigar/liquor/grocery store.

I've searched the net and different forums and can find anything about the two I'm looking into. There is no info anywhere so I'm hoping some of the gurus on here know anything about either of the models and can help provide information.

The first is a Don Diego. It's large and has tan Ostrich leather (don't know if it's real or not) with a magnetic leather closure. It also has a removable tray and looks to hold 200ish cigars.

The second is a Romeo Y Julieta and is also large enough for 200-250ish cigars. It's a dark wood and has the R Y J symbol etched into the top of the dark stained wood lid. It has a removable tray and probably 1 1/2" pedestal legs.

The price given to me for each of them, since no one at the B & M knows, is $100. I know they're worth it if they're quality humidors but I'd like to see some specs on them before I go in there tomorrow and buy one of them.

Thanks

Both sound like a good deal, you might find them at a better price if you look hard enough but if you enjoy your B&M why not give them the business?

We here at CP fully stand behind supporting our local B&Ms. Good ones are hard to find and your lucky if you have one.

I'd personally get the RYJ humi, I've seen them in person and they are classy

The Trinidad at the bottom of this link looks exactly like the Don Diego. The only place on the humidor that says Don Diego is the ID type piece of leather on the front. I guess the material is lizard, not ostrich.

I do support my local B&M, but sometimes they get some very strange/bizarre things.

If they priced it at $100 at your B&M then it looks like you might be getting a deal. I think the most important thing about a humi is that it has a good seal. When you close it, it should feel almost air tight, if that makes sence. Mine almost sucks the lid in.

I think $100 for a humi this size is very reasonable. Hope you enjoy it!

Sounds like an outstanding deal! I wish I could nab it....the RyJ one looks great!

If I'm correct, both those humidors were part of package special on last years RTDA from Altadis USA.
For $100 its a pretty good deal, you should grab it if you need a humidor.
I got them last year too and sold it to the regulars of my shop at a bargain price to show appriciation.
I don't loose money on it and my regular customers are happy that they get a great deal for being a regular.

I have more coming from this years RTDA, and I'll probably do the same this year.

Just FYI. I won't say "all" but it is a very safe bet that just about any name brand humidor you find anywhere was made in the same Chinese factories as the ones offered by the more reputable net sellers and on eBay. Note that I said REPUTABLE SELLERS. There are a few sellers who have junk with no spanish cedar anywhere in them. You probably know who the good sellers are. Anyway, I spent years importing humidors from China and all the good ones pretty much come from a handfull of factories. You get the same basic quality just about anywhere, name brand or not.
