Hi All

I'm from England and recently purchased a 50 cigar glass topped humidor from a holiday in Cuba. It is solid Spanish cedar with what appears to be a cedar ply base. The sides are varnished on the outside but the base has been left unfinished on the outside. Should this be sealed? If so, what can I use to seal it?

Thanks in advence,

Richie

Was it filled with Cahiba's?

No, I wouldn't mess with the base. You obviously will not be leaving it in an enviorment that would require it to be sealed from the bottom. If this is a matter of preference then use a urethane sealer. Or, better yet.... Pm the volsunator and ask Wade. He's big on woodworking.

What part of England are you from? My wife is coming over to visit her family next week. They are in Bouremouth. How far are you from there?
How was Cuba?

^^^ What Brandon said. If it seals good, you should have no need to "seal" the base, although honestly it wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks for the advice - I'll leave it for now and see how RH goes.

Cuba re-started my cigar interests, loved Havana. Came back with Monte #2's, Cohiba Siglo II's, and R & J Cedros de Luxe.

Getting through them well and already adding to the stock as the knowledge seems to suggest keeping the humidor at least 75% full - a very expensive habit to have!
