Humidipak life expectancy

I have read a little about the humidipak and how it works. They also say they have a life expectancy of 90 days.

My question: If you keep a 70% humidipak in a 70% humidor will it last longer or indefinitely? It wouldn't be dispersing it's limited supply of humidity so logic says it would last a long time.

I have half a dozen of the Fuente paks and they are great for the traveldor or a ziplock bag of sticks for the weekend at the cabin, etc.

Has anyone been able to extend the life by keeping them in the proper environment?

Edited to add "topic description"......................

I keep mine in a double ziplock with small piece of sponge. I moisten the sponge with distilled water and the humidpacks seem to "super saturate". When the sponge dries out, I re-saturate it. I've used them a year or so after they have first arrived and they seem to work fine. Great for passes, bombs, etc.

I keep a bunch of them in a tupperware container and seem to last a long time that way.

I guess a good secondary question is: Do these regulate RH by using a product like PG which regulates itself or is there a membrane which controls the absorption/dispersion of the RH.

BBS:

Have you ever tested the RH after yours have become "super saturated" to see if they can become higher than 70%?

I just spoke to a sales rep at Humidipak:

He says these units use salt, water, and a vegetable gumming agent. He said PG would be a bad idea and he also said that the units will absorb distilled water up to the predetermined RH and stay there.

So the bottom line...................you should able to keep these things perfectly for a long time just as BBS pointed out.

Glad someone thought of asking the question, I was working on posing the same question. As I am nearing 90 days on several humi packs great info Brothers.
