Hello all,

Just got my first humidor from Cuban Crafters about four days ago. Very Very satisfied with the design , fit and finish. However, after a couple days the double-faced tape that secured the small metal plate to the lid, released and keeps dropping the black box humidifier piece onto the tray. I called Cuban Crafters, and they said oh yeah, that always happens...(my thought was than change the damn design) and I should glue it back with "crazy glue". My comment was, I don't know, wouldn't the glue vapor and smell/taste permeate into the sticks? Their response: "Oh just leave the lid open for a few hours."

Anyone else experienced this? Any better solutions? I did send off for "the TUBE" from Viper, haven't received it yet. Perhaps it will be all I'll need...

TIA

Forget about screwing around with that one; the tube is all you need. I went through the same thing and ended up getting the tube and it works better than my previous humidifier.

Viper's tube > humidifier

You'll be better off when you get the tube

Just be glad it fell off and that you're getting the tube one.

You can always get the heavy-duty Velcro tape at a Lowes or Home Depot. I used that on my desktops for years with no problems.

If you want permanent. Crazy Glue will work.

I have used it before and it works. I have used it before on my smaller humis when I have had them and never had a problem.

Thanks all for the replys, I believe the consensus is to wait for the TUBE! So I will should have it in a couple days...

Now I have "High Expectations" :D

Thanks again,

Another option is to just lay it in the top of the humi, on the tray. That's what I do. I've got a 1/2 lb of Viper's magic beads in there, and when the RH dips below 62% for more than a couple of days, I add DI (distilled H20) to the humidifier and a bit to the beads. The beads absorb the moisture, regulate the RH, and I'm back in business. The combo of the two seems to work great; my desktop is rock solid at a usual 64%; when it reads low, it's easy to see.

Good luck - B.B.S.

Don't believe u should use crazy or super glue. Heavy velco.

That is what I'm doing now, however, I'm already running out of room...

So it would be better if it was stuck to the lid where it belongs. I have an idea, and will report back after I give it a try and see it is works.

Thanks again for all the replies.

...brother, my big humidor says "Coleman" on the side....50 Quart, wide body.... :p And...it's getting full, too. It doesn't get better with time, trust me on this one.

Cheers - B.B.S.

Well I have solved the problem using a product made by 3M. It is called VHB (Very High Bond) double sided tape. It is what Cuban Crafters should use in the first place, IMO.

Anywho, applied it to the plate, stuck it fast to the lid and SHAZAAM! its been there for about a week now... I'm currently using the tube and the humidifier on the lid. Humidity has been steady. But I'm running out of space!
