Humidifier/Humidity Issues

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I recently returned from a trip with about 25 cuban cigars and bought a humidor at the local cigar shop. I seasoned the wood and install the humidifier (its a black disc style humidifier about 2.5 inches in diameter) i soaked it in water to fill the sponge inside but it didnt seem to be soaking in much water. After putting it into the humidor i let it sit a few days and the humidity level inside the box did not move from 60. Are these disc style humidifiers just cheap or is something wrong with mine or the way i prepared it? Im thinking about ordering humidity beads for 65-70 because i hear thats the ideal level for cubans. Has anyone here encountered similar issues or used humidity beads? Also, im leaving tomorrow for two weeks and have 25 cigars that have no received proper humidity for the past 2-3 weeks. While im away and until i can fix the problem, how should i store them so that they get the least additional damage? should i just leave them in the humidor and hope the 60 doesnt ruin them or should i put them somewhere else? I appreciate any input you may have on the aforementioned issues i've been encountering

Thanks

Hello,

First, calibrate (search "salt test") your hygrometer to make sure it is working properly.

Once you get an accurate reading, you can move forward.

Many use the RH Beads with great success.

Many people actually prefer low 60s (some high 50s)

I hope this helps
