They said when they bought the shop 6 yrs ago it came with the setup they are using today a big humidor room full from the floor up. Well they have always I guess done a shitty job at organizing it? or doing inventory? either way they stumbled upon these hidden in the corner aged at least 6 yrs, who knows how long they were there before them? I looked them up they dont seem to be a HUGE dollar smoke, and I have never tried one myself, just wondering if 6 + yrs aging showing a little bloom would make them better or worse? or if they are crap to begin with? Im going to stop down tomorrow again and see if they have a dollar amount on buying the whole box. Let me know what you guys think, and or if you have tried them.

Thanks
Jeff

Wow.  They sure told you a story.  Did they try to sell you some swamp land also? ???

They were first released in 2010.  Aged 6 years?  I think not.

Edit to add:

Here's a quote from the HDM website:

The History
In 2010, General Cigar launched Hoyo de Monterrey Reposado en Cedros at the IPCPR show, launching the world’s first cigar to use the new Inmersión™ process. This was the culmination of more than 2 years of research, pioneered by the factory workers at our HATSA facility in Honduras.

Good to know, they weren't really sure either, I guess they assumed they had been there that long, crappy inventory. Cant wait to tell them tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

Wow. I'm not sure which is worse, them trying to swindle you with a bullcrap story, or you giving them the benefit of the doubt because "they weren't really sure". The cigars are garbage and they told you a flat out lie to take your money.

I see..They were not really trying to convince me to buy them, the kid that works there actually knew I was on this forum, and said hey we found these this is the deal, maybe post on the forum and see what the guys think.... So I did. And I guess you guys were able to get me some good input to give him. Yes they are trying to sell them, and yes they DID think they were 6 yrs old. They didnt have a price on them but they were thinking $9 per stick. I think thats a little high after reading this. So I will report back to them today with my findings, Im sure the kid will laugh but the owner will be like oh whatever LOL

Thanks Guys!
Jeff

Make sure you tell him that plume on those sticks is not plume its mold! I'm sure he will tell you otherwise. Glad to see you didn't buy them brother and glad the guys here could help you out.

Ya again and again Thanks everyone. I usually wouldn't jump into anything like that anyway. But having a community like this that I can turn to for info is great. Ill let you know after lunch what they say. Ill tell him they are garbage and ruined and to give them to me so I can infuse them LMAO!

Seems like if I were in your shoes, I'd try to find a different B&M to send my business to.

Happy smoking

C

Ok just got back from the smoke shop. The kid was surprised but the boss wasnt there, hes going to talk to him about just giving them to me. Well see, maybe ill use them for infusion science projects! lol just kidding

So is this this same shop that told you the dried out Cohibas might be vintage?  Sounds like you should find a new B&M.  Not to mention I wouldn't put moldy cigars anywhere near my cigars.  Those HDM should be thrown away, not sold or even given away.

Ya its the same place lol, And I wouldnt keep them things anywhere near my box if I were even to get them. We have another shop closer to my house that im going to check out more this week, they just opened and put in a cigar lounge. The one im using now is like right next to my work so its easy to run over to quick on lunch break. Also being the infused smoker I am, they have "my" Tabak Dulce and thats my most common smoke. I dont really go there to GAIN KNOWLEDGE but if im told anything I didnt know or that raises a red flag, I as you can see, report back here first before making and dumb moves. Again thanks guys.
