I was able to sneak in this cigar yesterday during a nice "warm" spell up here in RI
It was a balmy 50 degrees out so I grabbed the chance while I could!
The cigar was the Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight.
This cigar measures in at 5.75 and 54 ring gauge.
The wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
I grabbed my folding chair and sat out on my back "patio" and prepared to enjoy this cigar, my first in a few months!
Inspection of the cigar revealed a beautifully constructed stick with a lovely dark and oily wrapper. I gave it a light pinch and found that it was firm yet not too much so.
I clipped it and gave a nice long prelight draw. It was a very smooth and easy draw and my mouth was instantly filled with mild nutty and chocolatey tobacco flavors.
I gave the foot a nice even toast and then light it. It light nice and evenly and I started enjoying this cigar right from the get go.
The first few inches to first 3rd were medium in body with flavors of toasted nuts, cedar, and a slight peppery spice on my tongue. Each draw produced thick white clouds of smoke and the aroma was quite enjoyable. The finish remained smooth and earthy with chocolatey undertones.
About halfway through the cigar the flavors really started to develop into a delicious dark chocloate and espresso and a lingering smooth flavor. After each exhale I was left again with that pleasant cracked peppercorn flavor. My fingers started to get cold as the temperature dropped but I was determined to finish this beauty and enjoy myself!
The last 3rd of the smoke proved to be most enjoyable. The chocolate/espresso taste evolved and deepend and it continued to remain medium bodied and produce thick white clouds of cool smoke. As I smoked it down to the nub the flavor remained rich and deep and never got hot or bitter.
Overall this was a very good cigar and I look forward to finishing the ones I have left in my humi!
I do also apologize for my image quality. some are out of focus. sorry!
edit: I seem to be having some trouble getting my pictures into this post. bear with me!
