How can you tell Spanish Cedar From any other woods? I got a new humidor and I cannot tell if it is Spanish cedar or not. Is there any special property that only Spanish cedar has?

Do you have any cigar boxes? or a ceder wraped cigars to compare?

Thats all the help I can give sorry.

Man I wish I could spell

I worked in a millwork shop one summer years ago.... After 3 months the only way I could tell the difference between spanish cedar and mahogany was by taste. They look very similiar, same grain etc. The cedar dust blowing around all day left a bitter, astringent taste on my lips when I happened to lick them. Sand a small spot down, taste the dust.

its easier (for me) to "smell" the difference when they are damp.

and those who's minds are in the gutter tonight, have at it. thats a fast ball right down the middle just begging to be sent over the fence.
