Any home brewers here? I've been doing the home brewing thing for a little while now and have two recipes that I can proudly call my very own. The first is a banana hefewiezen. It's a little on the sweeter side with a mellow banana after taste. Everyone loves this stuff. I can't brew it fast enough. The other is a chocolate stout. I prefer this one, but I'm in the minority on that. So does anyone else brew at home?

There are a few of us that brew. I have a honey brown ale in the primary right now.

I was given a Mr. Brew home brewing kit a couple Christmases ago and did one batch through it that didn't turn out so well. I tried to add some honey to the pre-made mix that came with the kit and it really through off the flavor. I've recently been interested in learning more about the hobby and have been thinking about starting to give home brewing another shot.

The Mr. Brew is a good starting point to see if you like it. Do you best to follow the directions and you can make some ok beer.

i thought i would chime in here. i don't know much about cigars but a lot about home brewing. the mr.beer kits are not that great in my opinion...and seem to turn some people off of the hobby by the lack of quality end product.

done properly home brewed beers can be just as good as any craft brewed beer you can buy!

my suggestion is to try one of the bag-in-box type brews with a liquid yeast strain if your local store has them...about as easy as it gets and very tasty!

go here is you want to learn more about home brewing and these fine folks will take good care of you:

using honey properly in home brewing is a very tricky thing. Definetly not for the inexperienced brewer. Go get one of those extract kits at a home brew store or http://www.austinhomebrew.com and brew it as directed. One you get the hang of all the ingredients you can start making your own recipes. I had to give up 45 gallons of beer when I left for deployment, cant wait to get started again when I get back

I second this. My cousin got a Mr. Beer and it produced nothing but swill. I went for the "regular" kit (bucket, carboy, etc) and those produce excellent beer.

Again, I second that. My very first one was a double IPA and I still brew it because it was so tasty
