Just wondering... I have almost always used the .44 mag punch (maybe since I have a .44mag?) but I lost the bullet/punch head and will need to get something new. Was wondering what the popular choice is? I prefer the punch due to the clean hole, and less 'debris' coming loose...

(I did a search and didn't see much discussion on this...)

You can check the lobby too....

That said, I voted DBG because I prefer torpedos, which the punch is not too effective on. However I do have a punch for smaller ring non-perfectos. Keep both the blade and punch on me 24/7 (with my bottle opener)

I think you can get more smoke using a device that leaves you with an open ended cigar. I dont think you get quite as much with a punched hole, and I thought I had heard something about "build-up accumulating near the hole after a while of smoking the cigar. I could be wrong though.

most of the time I use a cigar scissor at home
or I use the punch I keep on my keychain

I'm with you on that - I like torpedo's as well. I like to DBG cut my cigars because it does such a clean job - but I do keep a punch on the keychain "just in case"...

AlexGTP will chime in here at some point, I'm sure - he likes to V-cut his torpedo's.

Punch most of the time DBG the rest.

The newbs always manage to leave out SAK in the polls. "other"

Crud... my apologies... I did a couple of searches and didn't come up with that much. Guess I misspelled something , or looked for the wrong thing. Oops.

That's why I'm a n00b... so I'll bite- a SAK?

And lastly- for the DBG, is there a preference here as well? xikar? the old basic plastic cheapo?

Swiss Army Knife with a cigar cutter.

Couldn't vote for more than one, so I put down scissors, but also use the bullet punch and SAK. Someday I'll buy a good DBG rather than the cheap giveaway ones.

Question:
Years ago I used a spear type device which didn't damage the capa, but gave a nice sipping draw. Anybody still use one these?

Question:
What's the best DBG in your opinion, the Xikar or what?

Thanks

V cut for me but I can't tell the difference, I am sad to say just a newbie :(

DBG for me but it is a cheap one. I also have a SBG which actually works a little better. Hopefully someday I will foot the bill for a Xicar. I also want to try a punch to see if I like those, they seem like they would be a bit less messy.

Depends on the cigar. For a torp, it's a DBG. For all others, I go with the built-in punch on my Colibri.

On large gauges (of course exempting figurados) is a punch not ideal, I've heard conflicting stories.

I like a v-cut, but ususally go with DBG because I smoke alot of torpedos and the straight cut seems to work better..a punch doesn't work well at all for me on torps either.
