Last night I ended up driving up to St. Paul to see a freind from NYC that was in town for the evening, and since it's an hour and a half drive I thought I'd bring something for the ride. I've done that drive so many times it's become somewhat of a boring task, as I count off the small towns approaching the metro.

So I decided to bring this cigar, that I picked up in a pass quite some time ago. It was perfect! I lit up about 10 minutes outside of town, and finished just as I got towards my exit in downtown! The draw was what I consider to be perfect, I didn't have to work at it, and I got exactly the amount of smoke I wanted. It burned even just about the whole way. The only exception was when I wasn't paying attention for a couple minutes and the dashboard vent was blowing on one side, causing it to get uneven. That corrected itself right away though. It had a real nice spice taste, not hot spicy, just a tingle on my mouth and tongue. I'm not sure where this is supposed to fall in the mild-full range, but it was great for me. I never felt like I was getting a buzz, but at the same time I didn't feel like I was smoking nothing but a wrapper.

So if you have the opportunity to pick up a few of these sticks, don't pass it up! I know I'll be looking for a box myself in the coming months. I've had the signature natural before, and enjoyed that immensely as well, and I think this maduro was just a bit better.

And up in St. Paul, I saw the show "The Good Body" by Eve Ensler, who is the person who wrote and first performed "The Vagina Monologues". It was probably more of a chick show, but my freind did the sound design so she had a ticket for me to see the show, then we had a nice little party over at the St. Paul Hotel. It's always nice to ingest a little culture.

I just bought and smoked my first signature natural last night after work. On the drive home, I smoked a short story that sucked. The few that I've tried have no flavor IMHO. Then after dinner I lit up the signature. All I can say is I thought it was better than some Opus' that I've tried. It had flavor from beginning to end and it was always changing. Right before I finished, it turned to a hot pepper and then finished sweet and mild. What a perfect smoke. So far my favorite Fuente. Now I have to try the maduro, being I favor them.

Shibumi, I would recommend the Don Carlos # 3 if you are looking to try something new in the Fuente line. They are my favorite Don Carlos and one of my all time favorite Fuente products.

The Fuente Hemy maduros are a very nice cigar if you are looking for some nice mild sweetness . They always burn to perfection and are very consistent. They are a son of a bitch to find for sure.

Thanks Gonz, I have an opportunity to purchase a few of these and now I'll give them a try. Can I ask what you think is a reasonable price?

I'm going to pick one up tonight. Thanks for the tip Master.

guess I need to try the maduro.. I smoked a Signature natural, and thought it was ranked right up there with the best I've had.
My experience with the Short Story is that it just isn't worth the money. It was ok, but not great.
I think the Don Carlo is next.

Here's the link to the Fuente reference thread, where you can see the msrp on the Hemingways, from 2004. The way I go about it is to add a couple bucks, then figure out what your state tobacco tax is, and go from there. Or if you can find them online, you can compare a couple different sites to see who comes closest to actually selling them for msrp. But don't expect to find the maduro anywhere soon, especially for msrp. I think there's a couple sites that I've seen singles for sale, but they are around $17 a piece, and not worth it.

And I think that the short story is a good smoke, but only worth it if you can find them at a good price. At $3-4 a piece they are good, at $7-8 not really.

I think I paid about 4.50 for mine, and smoked it during my lunch break. Maybe it was just an off day.
I think I paid about 6- 6.50 for the Signature. I'll have to go back and check.
