First I want to say that I do not want to throw David at Heartfelt under the bus, he has been the ultimate professional and very good to work with.

I bought one of the little hygros, 3 7/8" long 1 1/4" wide and 5/16" thick, and it was about 10% off, so David sent me another one immediately at no charge. It was also way off. David went out of his way to test a third one for me at his place but I have asked him to hold off until we see if I should just buy one of his better hygros.

My concern is that the two he sent me thus far seem to be wildly inaccurate and vary all over the place from day to day. I have a cooler with 65% viper beads and these two hygros will read 56 & 58 one day and both read 64 two days later and back to 55 & 57 a couple days later. So I am concerned about the reliability of these even if it reads dead on at a particular time. They also seem to take 8 -10 hours to stabilize whereas most digitals I have had stabilize in 15-20 minutes.

Question: Does anyone have experience with his other hygro, the one that is adjustable?

I have 2 of the adjustable hygro's and they are great. They have been dead on since I set them.

One suggestion. If you buy the adjustable do the salt test, adjust it, then test it again. I had to adjust it a few times initially, but it has been great since.

The only way to know how accurate your hygro is, is to salt test it. Putting it in a cooler won't tell you if the instrument is working properly or not.

Replace the battery in the hygro, just to be sure, and salt test it. If it still acts crazy, you know for sure you have a problem with the instrument.

Good luck - B.B.S.

Jeff I have much the same issue with a diamond crown meter. That little sucker is all over the place as well.

Try Wilkes little salt test link

Hay, if you are still having issue after the test and before you receive the pass box, simply put all your GOOD STICKS in the box and send them my way. :whistling:

I will TAKE GREAT CARE OF THEM. Why they LAST.

I just love how there are kind souls here who will do anything to help a brother out ;)

Actually my main coolidor is working perfect and I have a CO XL in there acting as a hygro only. It is rock steady at 65% with viper beads. That's how I know the other two are so goofy, they are in there also and they are all over the place.

I have an adjustable hygro from heartfelt as well and it was maybe a half-point off when I got it (salt test went up to 76, then stabilized at 75). Haven't had any problems with it at all.

I purchased two of the cheap hygrometers off Dave and they are both out by 5%.
I have tested them twice over a period of two months and they read the same,so I am happy working out my levels knowing the variables and also Knowing they were cheap.
I have an expensive Hygrometer which I swap between my Humidors just to keep an eye on things, and the small Hygrometers do not fluctuate at all.
I would imagine it comes down to "you gets what you pay for".

I must add that I am more than happy with my purchases from Heartfelt.

I have bought 4 of the ones that are retangle and have the heartfelt logo's on them. I've done the salt test on them 3 times. 2 of them are dead on, one ...-1% off , the other -2% off.

I've been very happy with them.
