Hey Guys...Im heading to Cuba in May and was wondering what you guys would recommend. Im maxing out myself and my girlfriend...so thats 100 sticks!
I would like two higher end boxes, and two medium priced boxes.
Just so I dont break the bank ! :D
What are the must haves? and which would you recommend to be the "best bang for my buck !"? Thanks.....E

Try to find those rare glass top special edition Cohibas. LOL

On a serious note, I think it's hard to recommend; really depends on your tastes and size preference.

Don't get arrested...never know how long they will hold you.

Kidding...have a good trip.

Since you'll be in Cuba, that will be a great time to sample as many sticks as you can. Then, buy the smokes you like best.

What resort will you be going to? If you're at Breezes Jiacoba in Varadero be careful, friend of mine bought cigars from the cigar shop on the resort and they were fakes.

My advice, take the cigar tour to Havana, they'll take you to one of the cigar factories and there will be a government store in there to sell you legitimate smokes.

Edited for spelling.

Whatever you decide to buy make sure you get them from a government store. You will be bombarded with people trying to sell you cigars on the street, especially in tourist areas. It gets pretty annoying… just tell them that you don’t smoke cigars.

Century,

Boy have I got a connection for you. I have a cousin who has a sister who lives in Cuba. Her boyfriends father knows the night watchman at the ....

Alot depends on what you like to smoke. Size, strenth etc.

But buyer beware there are as many fakes in Cuba as there are in Tijuana. Everyone and there brother seems to have a connection with someone working in a factory that just so happens to have what you need. Buy from a government store and get all the necessary paperwork that support there authenticity and just make sure you don't fly back through the USA.

Enjoy your trip smoke a ton while your there, I here it's a great place to visit.

Yeah, Ive been there before and took the trip to Havana.
I purchased my cigars at the Partagas factory after they gave us the tour.
It was funny because after the tuor we went to this huge flea market, every second minute a guy would come up to us and say "Cohiba sir, cheapie cheapie!" , come on who you kidding.
Im going to Holguin this year, staying an Brisas. My friend was just there, and said there are only 2 local cigar stores, which are good. Got some Punch Punch when she was down there.

Is it any easier to get unusual cigars, such as the Partagas Culebra while actually in Cuba? If I were able to travel to Cuba, I'd want to search out things that retailers off the island don't usually get.

Heh, I was only in Cuba once but I was amazed at how many people come up to you trying to sell cigars. Walking back from Plaza America to our hotel some lady walks up to my wife and I and starts asking "Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta". She just named off a bunch of cigars.

I'm thinking, what do you have all those in your bag?? LOL

Wasn't there a cigar store in Plaza america? I remember it to be a real rip-off, nice stock, but overpriced. But when I saw that Pizza Nova there (i think it was in that mall), I almost cried, finally food with flavour !
