I cannot go against my brother matt on this one. I am sure he has been to mexico more than I. When I go to Cabo (we go once a year), I usually bring my own cc. I may on occasion, buy one or two, but the prices are high and if you are buying anywhere but JnJ, its likely a fake. If you going to do it though, buy right from JnJ.
At the place we stay they have a small tabacco shop and I made a purchase there right before we left for my stepson. His mother wanted to bring him something home from cabo and this was last minute...morning we left or the day before..can't recall now. They had a sign saying they were authorized by JnJ to sell...yada yada. I looked at their cohibas, all which screamed fake, even though there were no glass top boxes. I ended up buying a monte #2 (i think), a psd4, and a RyJ something or another. Almost a cool hundy for 3 smokes. I kept the psd4 for myself and after having it and one from a recent gb...I feel it was not real. The monte my son had he said was excellent..but what does he know lol. He still hasn't tried the last one.
I did pick up a cohiba from JnJ while we were in town and it was good. I also picked up a upmann petite corona for the wife on the recommendation of the girl there and it was so plugged it was hardly smokable. Not so great for a first experience for the wife..
